Cancer Research "Race For Life 2024"

The boy's come live from Cancer Research Race for Life 2024 in Bury St Edmunds England.

Patrick is running on behalf of Martin in the 5K race for Cancer Research UK's annual fundraising event.

While Patrick slogs his way around the circuit, Martin will be making his way around the event speaking to different people supporting and participating this year.

No matter how cancer affects us, life is worth Racing for. Enter Cancer Research UK's Race for Life and raise money for life-saving cancer research.

There’s a Race for you no matter your age, fitness level or reason for getting out there.

A race for everyone – and we mean everyone. If you’re new to running for charity 3k is a good distance to start with. Go solo or grab your family and friends. Walk, jog, run or take on the course, however, it suits you. Feel the power of moving with your fellow Race for Lifers and have fun! Looking for a new challenge? Take on a longer distance with no pressure and an unbeatable atmosphere.

This is a first for the boys, an outside broadcast using their new Nomono equipment in the car on the way to BBC Radio Essex,

We call this Episode "Cardiac Karaoke" after the famous James Corden Series of carpool karaoke with his special guests.

Patrick & Martin have no special guests, however, they are in the car and one has cardiac issues so we couldn't resist the links.

It is a light-hearted episode this week where the boys chat about all sorts of things and some of the topics include their experience with their stays in the hospital, changing brands of regular medication, end-of-life and assisted dying (Cheerful).

A Day at Mama B's - Special

Cancer, especially Breast cancer is the order of the day today at "Mama B Cancer Wellbeing Days" and what a day it was, It was truly inspirational to both Martin and Patrick and a privilege to be allowed behind the closed doors of Stephen John’s Salon.

Owner Steve Trowles set up the group after many years of supporting women needing wigs due to their treatment. He said: “I met these women and they opened up to me. I would then have the next client come in and think, I need you to talk to the previous person so you can connect and support each other.”

Named after his much-loved mum, Brenda, who sadly passed away in 2016, the days allow women (and Men) undergoing cancer treatment to come to the salon where they enjoy some pampering thanks to volunteers, a light lunch, and, most importantly, a chance to talk to each other, share their stories and offer each other support and advice.

Steve added: “My mum was such an inspirational woman. Losing her left a huge hole in my heart but hosting these days in her memory and supporting women through cancer is just a blessing and I just hope that Mama B’s makes life a little better for everyone at a difficult time.”

Martin & Patrick Get to talk to Steve, the Ladies attending the event, and some of the invaluable volunteers that make this work including local Charity "My Wish Charity" and Tesco Stores.

This is one Podcast that has left a huge lasting impression on Martin and Patrick and simply goes to show there is still so much good in the world.
