  • A Modern James Bond : Episode 452
    Jul 14 2025

It is said that on the internet you can be whoever you want to be.

For some, this is true in real life too and so it was for Mike Newitt. Facing financial ruin, the married father re-invented his life to be a secret agent of the Govt so convincingly that even his work colleagues and his wife believed him. But it didn't end well for Mike.

The story today is from Yorkshire. Eighteen year old Rachel Barraclough lived in Bradford and had everything to live for, enjoying life with her family, friends and boyfriend. But then one normal Friday evening, Rachel went out for the night and didn't come home - it was the next day that her body was found after she had been brutally attacked on an isolated river towpath in Wakefield. Just who would have wanted to hurt Rachel? And why?

  • The Gleision Mine Disaster: Episode 448
    Jun 16 2025

There have been many miners killed across the UK, in a series of terrible accidents in an industry that has always been known as dangerous. But when we think of coal mining disasters they tend to be in the 18th and 19th centuries, including the worst mining disaster in UK history which killed 439 men and boys working in Senghenydd, Glamorgan in 1913 as a result of a gas explosion.

The story today is from the 21st century, but is again from South Wales and once again, it destroyed many lives.
