A leading economist says it's galling to see the government planning a rates cap for councils when it's, when it is imposing no restraints on its own taxes.

Infometrics Chief Economist Brad Olsen told Matt and Tyler that, "you're giving more money to the government and they're not capping taxes anytime soon."

Preventing reproduction can extend lifespan in mammals across a wide range of species, a new study has found.

A major international study led by the University of Otago has found that blocking reproduction increases lifespan in both males and females across a wide range of species.

Lead author Associate Professor Mike Garratt, of Otago’s School of Biomedical Sciences, joined the Afternoons team to discuss.
