    Sep 2 2022
Justin Kolbeck is co-founder and CEO of cultivated salmon producer Wildtype with longtime friend Aryé Elfenbein, currently on a mission to create the cleanest, most sustainable seafood on the planet. Inspired by breakthroughs in stem cell research, and witnessing firsthand the impact of global food insecurity in places such as Pakistan and Afghanistan, these old friends brought their experiences together to reimagine the future of seafood starting with creating sushi grade salmon from Coho Salmon cells.  Wildtype has recently raised over $100 million in Series B funding to make its product ubiquitous, from top restaurants to grocery stores.  Prior to Wildtype, Justin spent nearly five years as a consultant at Strategy& helping companies develop and launch products, grow into new markets, and operate efficiently. He started his career as a Foreign Service Officer, serving in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Australia, and Washington DC.  He is a graduate of the Yale School of Management, L’Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris, and UC Berkeley.     LEARN MORE ABOUT JUSTIN KOLBECK and WILDTYPE FOODS here:    Wildtype Website: https://www.wildtypefoods.com/ Wildtype on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/wildtype-foods/ Wildtype on Twitter: https://twitter.com/wildtypefoods Wildtype on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bluefrontiercampaign/ Wildtype Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wildtype_Foods Wildtype on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wildtypefoods/ TechCrunch: https://techcrunch.com/2022/02/22/can-100-million-get-wildtypes-cell-grown-salmon-into-the-wild/ Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffkart/2021/06/17/wildtype-says-its-sustainable-cell-cultivated-salmon-can-ease-stress-on-our-oceans/?sh=3a0c42d46629 Arye’ Elfenbein LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/elfenbein216/ Justin Kolbeck LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/justin-kolbeck/ BBC News: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-51657573 New Republic Lab to Table: https://newrepublic.com/article/163554/lab-meat-save-planet NY Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/10/business/fake-fish-impossible-foods.html Future of Seafood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBY96h7mcko Science Insider: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWRwrQI3XOY Bloomberg QuickTake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDTQTdPwBsQ Time Lab Grown Meat could Feed the Planet : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FIk8ruwG4s Forbes: Cell Cultured Seafood: https://www.forbes.com/sites/briankateman/2022/06/06/cell-cultured-seafood-isnt-just-an-idea-its-a-reality/?sh=3118d9d4146d Insider: https://www.businessinsider.com/wildtype-cultivated-cell-grown-salmon-looks-feels-tastes-real-2021-10     “Maybe it seems strange that all the meat that we'll consume (in the future) won't require slaughtering animals. • Heidi Tait - CEO Tangaroa Blue Foundation. Founder Australian Marine Debris Initiative. | EP 33
    May 23 2022

Heidi Tait has always been an avid lover of nature and the outdoors, so when she was working as a scuba instructor and started finding rubbish everywhere, her only option was to act. In 2004 Heidi founded Tangaroa Blue Foundation (TBF) as a way of addressing the ever-increasing threat of marine debris in our oceans. Through the TBF Heidi introduced the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI), which is a growing network of communities, schools, industries, government agencies and individuals focused on reducing the amount of marine debris washing into our oceans. Heidi was named one of the “18 Most Influential Women in Ocean Conservation” in the July 2018 edition of Ocean Geographic and has been featured in multiple interviews as one of Australia’s foremost Ocean Innovators. In this compelling conversation, Rich and Heidi cover many important topics, starting with the big picture of why there is so much marine debris and where it is all coming from. They then focus on solutions – specifically how Heidi and her partners are utilizing their network and data system to not only remove garbage from the ocean, but also to stop it at the source. Additionally they cover many other subjects from recycling to cigarette butts to her connection to Jack Johnson. Heidi is a true ocean hero out there every day working to protect the ocean we all love so much!

Dr. Sylvia Earle is the founding President and Chairman of Mission Blue. She is a National Geographic Society Explorer in Residence and was dubbed Her Deepness by the New Yorker and New York Times. The Library of Congress made her a Living Legend and Time Magazine declared her the first Hero for the Planet. She was also the first female Chief Scientist of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (the NOAA).  She is an Ocean Elder, an oceanographer, explorer, author and lecturer.  In short Dr. Earle is a living legend.  Over the years Dr. Earle has brought her infinite wisdom and deep knowledge of how our planets works to both the professional world and the masses in books, films, numerous talks, lectures and interviews but one in particular stands out, from ten years ago, with the NRDC (the national resources defense council), where she said “Think of the Ocean as the blue Heart of the planet.  The part that makes the world work. Drives climate and weather. Generates most of the oxygen we breathe.  It drives our water cycle. It’s where 97% of the water is. This is our life support system and unless we really understand it and appreciate it, we are not going to take care of it. Knowing is the key”.

Jeremy McKane is an Artist and innovator with the passion for the environment.  At 18, he found himself working in a startup that would one day become (for a time) the world’s largest web hosting provider. After leaving the corporate world, his focus began to shift towards impact based art, aligning his vision with ocean related issues and causes. He has shown his work as an installation artist all over the world but feels compelled to not stop there. When not making art, he is often on panels, traveling to climate negotiations and summits around the world,  discussing munitions dumping and cleaning our seas, to ways to fund ocean causes through art and technology.  Jeremy remains an active Explorers Club Member and is CEO of OCN.ai, the Ocean Currency Network, a means to financially incentivize nation-states to protect their waters with Blockchain technology which includes an autonomous network of marine robots that automate enforcement at sea.  He co-founded the ULTRAMARINE Ocean Action Summit with Kite Boarding Pro Susi Mai, held each year on Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island. The Ultramarine mission is to protect 30% of The World's Ocean by 2030 by bringing rapid collaboration to the Ocean Space in hopes that we can protect more of what matters through tangible actions.
