  • My Guest_ Otjen A_ J is an Library of Congress Award-Author of _Burned Over!____
    May 5 2025
"A.J. is a 2023 Library of Congress Award-Winning author whose new book, "Burned Over! The Survival of Montana Firefighter Dan Steffensen" chronicles Dan's extraordinary journey after he was critically injured in a wildland fire burnover incident during the "Summer of Hell" of 2021. This isn't just a story about a firefighter who survived a horrific incident. "Burned Over!" takes listeners into the heart of a small Montana town as they grapple with multiple tragedies in a single summer, including a devastating wildfire that destroyed eight homes and the loss of another firefighter in a tragic accident.

A.J. will offer insights into the challenges of capturing Dan's story, a man of few words, and the profound impact of the experience on her as a writer.

Together, they offer a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit, the unbreakable bonds of community, and the importance of honoring the sacrifices made by first responders."

  • My Guest_ Author June Kraholic of _Momma You Don_t Heal_
    Apr 21 2025
"My name is June Kraholik, and I am the Author of Momma You Don’t Heal (a book to help mothers who have lost children) and Whispered Promises, which is a contemporary romance. My life was turned upside down when my son, Kaleb, was born. I had a complete placental abruption, which led to him not breathing and being a special needs child. In 2012, I lost Kaleb at the age of 2. I wish I could say it was easy to get back on my feet, but it was a long climb and took many years to learn how to cope with my child's loss. A decade later, I published my book, Momma You Don’t Heal, to help other mothers going through child loss. I was so nervous doing this, and it was so hard to put my thoughts out into the world (I thought everyone was going to think I was crazy). To my surprise, it resonated with others. Others loved the book, and it was selling! I would love to say that things have been uphill since then, but 5 months into my book being published, my husband of 10 years blindsided me with wanting a divorce. So, I went into what I call hibernation to work on me and what I wanted my life to look like as a single mom with a 9-year-old daughter. I got back to writing and published my second book, Whispered Promises, in September of 2024, which is a contemporary fiction romance novel. That is a shortened version of what I have gone through, but I think laughter is the key to healing, and I believe that I’ve lived my worst day, and no day will be as bad as that day was. I can talk about a variety of subjects, deep subjects such as child loss to writing a book, to how important mental health is to everything you do. It just depends on your audience and what you feel would resonate with them."
