A dashingly romantic and rivetingly adventurous new dark fantasy fairy tale retelling from New York Times bestselling author Shannon Mayer inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Perfect for fans of Pirates of the Caribbean, Once Upon a Time, and Wicked.

There’s no place like home…

Surviving a pirate-infested hell-scape—complete with a giant crocodile and a fairy with bad intentions—was rough. I’d been hoping for better days when a cyclone of story-magic dropped me and Hook smack in the middle of a place called Oz.

At first it seems like paradise, but as always, there’s a catch. The Wicked Witch of the West and her flying monkeys are terrorizing the townsfolk, and they’re in desperate need of saving. A job made near impossible when I find out that my mortal enemy, Almira, and The Wicked Witch of the West are one and the same… And she will stop at nothing to end me.

If I ever want to get back to C’an Saas and save my own people, my band of misfits and I will have to defeat the strongest witch who ever lived. With the right combination of wits, heart, and courage, we might have a chance. I just have to hope that the dark pirate of my dreams and Prince Charming don’t kill each other in the process…

Shannon Mayer has crafted an exceptional storyline in the Inkbound series. It’s an exciting fairytale with a strong female protagonist who is full of grit and determination. She has a wonderful supporting cast around her.
The storyline grabs you from the first paragraph and holds tight until the last word leaving you wanting more.
Amelia Hugh breathes life into the storyline and gives each character their own distinct voice.
I highly recommend this book to fans of dark fairy tale recreations and look forward to the next addition to this exciting new series.

When I read the first book, I thought it was really interesting. The story is pretty cool, and I love a retelling of a fairytale. That said, I’m not entirely certain what the time. Of these fairytales was supposed to be because on the one hand, the characters felt like running water and showers were novel inventions, but simultaneously phrases like “throwing shade” were used. It became hard to get into the story the further along we went with all of the anachronisms. Also, while the first and second books seemed pretty directed, this one really seemed to lose the plot. I felt like some of the storylines were not appropriately developed. There was a random girl in the bar scene who felt like Harmony looked familiar. Harmony felt the same, and I was wondering if this was going to be an older version of one of the characters from the previous two books. That particular plot thread was never revisited though. I just felt like there were a ton of things that were kind of tossed into this book for the sake of finishing it off. why was there so much time dedicated to “preparing for the trials “only for harmony to become distracted the day before these trials were set to occur with a new mission to build a forge. we only got a few lines about the betrayal of the Fox character. I have no concept of why harmony‘s kingdom is in the story book “Kansas “but everyone from her homeland has an Irish accent. All in all, this was probably my least favorite of the trilogy.
it felt hastily done and not very well thought out.

Once Upon a Time, but make it Meta. And Modern.
