New York Times bestselling author John Connolly, “one of the best thriller writers we have” (Harlan Coben, #1 New York Times bestselling author), returns with a shivery collection of supernatural tales.

Filled with eerie surprises and dark delights, Night and Day takes us from the dusty shelves of an uncanny library filled with fictional characters to a bunker deep beneath the earth where scientists seek revenge on old Nazis; from an English marsh haunted by a mother and her son to a country house where a grieving widower finds comfort from a most unlikely source. Concluding with the author’s account of how an obscure horror film brought him closer to his lost father, and how nostalgia can help to keep us sane, this is a collection that will move, entertain, and keep you reading late into the night.

Critic reviews

"A spooky collection of short stories drawn from previous collections and a few new ones are brought to life by a quartet of talented narrators. The short stories offer an eclectic variety of horror tales, some ideal for a quick listen. Gerard Logan, Caroline Lennon, Mark Meadows, and Jeff Harding bring the bizarre plots to life in sinister tones. Plots range from fictional characters who live in a library to time travelers who are hunting Nazis. There’s a performance sure to capture the ear of any horror fan. The concluding section, narrated by Logan, discusses one the author’s most beloved horror movies. While the narration is engaging throughout, Logan brings the discussion to life with an especially pleasing cadence and eager tone."

For the first time ever I found myself bored by a John Connely book. I am normally a huge fan but this one I could not finish.

Firstly this is a collection of short stories with an autobiography tagged on to the end just in case anyone else glosses over that when they read the summary. Unfortunately the short stories are flat and undeveloped. It's an unsettling mix of stories that either drag on or dont go anywhere. It's also sometimes difficult to register that one story has ended and another has begun when listening.

Sadly Disappointing

don't bother with this one if you like connolly for it is a sore disappointment. most of it is a film monograph which is woeful and the other stories are just fillers.

Gave up halfway. Avid Connolly fan but I have to throw in the towel on this one.

Cannot go the distance

Sadly it is a John Connolly dud. Wish I had read and listen to the other reviews. Just lost interest very quickly, fast forwarded through sections of the book, didn’t miss anything! Bummer but still love the rest of his books!

Sad but true
