太宰治の文壇デビューとなった記念すべき作品です。1933（昭和8）年に、雑誌「海豹」3月号に掲載されました。「魚服記」というタイトルを頭に入れて聴いて下さい。「魚服」の「服」は「身に着けるもの」という意味です。そしてもう一つ、「服従」から解るように「従う」という意味もあります。つまり「服」は、体や心に受け入れていく、という深い意味を持っています。これを踏まえて聴いていくと、最後にタイトルの意味するところが見えてくると思います。
