Enforcer and drug dealer Fernando has seen better days. On his way home from work, some heavily-tattooed gangsters throw him in the back of a car and take him to an abandoned house, where they saw off his friend's head and feed the kid's fingers to...something. Their message is clear: this is their territory, now.

But Fernando isn't put down that easily. Using the assistance of a Santeria priestess, an insane Puerto Rican pop sensation, a very human dog, and a Russian hitman, he'll build the courage (and firepower) he'll need to fight a gangbanger who's a bit more than human....

Few things excite me more than going backwards with an author I’ve come to love. Ever since Coyote Songs, Zero Saints had been on my TBR. I don’t listen to audiobooks often, but I’m glad I heard this story this way. Jean-Marc’s performance is great, and the story moves quick as it moves you. It’s exactly as you’d expect from a Gabino literary romp: a powerful mix of elements and language that transport you and, for me, forever change my rides through Austin.

I’ll Never See Austin The Same

I love Iglesia’s’ work and while this is a far cry from The Devil Takes You Home, I still enjoyed myself. This is my second book from him, but I’ve already bought his catalog. He is a voice that we need right now. Even if this felt early and a bit amateur, I didn’t mind going back and seeing him begin. It’s The Gunslinger to his eventual Dark Tower. Recommended!

An incredible author’s first work
