Publisher's Summary

The shy Miss Yvonne Grenier, a beautiful fugitive of the French Revolution, is quite terrified when a dangerous enemy boards her stage to York. Luckily, Miss Hannah Pym is also on board. Ever the matchmaker, Miss Pym sees the answer to Yvonne's plight in the hands and heart of another passenger - the Marquis of Ware. Handsome and tailored to perfection, the marquis' birth and fortune are armor enough to defend Yvonne. Although the girl is of the French bourgeoisie and below him, Miss Pym is certain that Yvonne's Gallic graces and quick-witted tongue have more than piqued his interest. Miss Pym will propose a plan that enlists the Marquis' aid - and soon he will be proposing! After all, a maiden in distress is irresistable - even to a confirmed bachelor!

Fun series!

I enjoyed all six books in The Traveling Matchmaker series. Helen Lisanti does a great job narrating!

Wonderful series

I loved this series! M. C. Beaton never disappoints. The brave and proper Miss Pimm with her quirky footmam take the reader on fun and gripping adventures. The narrator breathes life into these books and makes it a joy to listen!

Yvonne Goes to York: The Traveling Matchmaker, Book 6

What a wonderful conclusion to a great series. I’m going to miss Hannah and her adventures! In this book, we met Miss Yvonne Grenier, who is on the stage coach to meet up with her father. A couple of the male passengers seem sketchy, so Hannah offers her protection and companionship to Yvonne. Luckily Hannah’s matchmaking skills are still in use when she meets the Marquis of Ware. Of course nothing goes as planned when Hannah is involved, so there will be more adventures! We also get to see more of Hannah’s own true love, Sir George!

Love the series, but the French accent bothers me.

Would you try another book from M. C. Beaton and/or Helen Lisanti?

Absolutely yes.

If you’ve listened to books by M. C. Beaton before, how does this one compare?

Hard to listen to the bad French accent of the lead character.

What didn’t you like about Helen Lisanti’s performance?

The French accent of Yvonne made her character unlikable.

Couldn't Finish It

This is the first M. C. Beaton book I have heard and not found entertaining. I've tried several times to finish it, but found it too boring. It seemed to drag on and on, lacking the humor of the other books in "The Traveling Matchmaker "series.

This being the last book in the series M. C. Beaton must have run out of ideas.

Helen Lisanti is a talented narrator, but even she could not make it interesting.

Although I can recommend the first five books in the series, I cannot recommend this one.

A great ending to the series

I was pleased with this final book in the series. It was nice that Miss Pym was able to get her man and be a married woman also. Benjamin gets to be with them and live in London, which is his heart's desire. I also like that she got to see Mrs Clarence and was her maid of honor at the wedding.

Nice End

Had me worried... but I liked how things ended. Interesting that this series ended without tying in the other books more. A bit of a spoiler: I wish the author had brought the various couples from the previous books back into the story (which with this book being longer and the final in the series, would have been easy enough to do). Most if not all wanted Miss Pymm at their wedding so surely they would have been more than happy to be there for her HEA.

I Love Happy Endings

I won’t gush or ramble about this series of books. As a matter of fact, I wasn’t even going to read the series even though I love M C Beaton. Well, just let me say this. I cried like a baby when it was over and I miss Hannah already! Oh and Helen Lisanti is a treasure! A definite “Must Read” as much for the history of the period as for the adventure.

Sad to see it end.

I smiled at the end, in sheer joy at how this talented author brought together a series that never let go of my imagination. I sighed because I felt like I knew the characters as friends, and I will miss them. To me, the feelings experienced by the reader are the measure of great writing. M.C. Beaton, I am awed by your skill at weaving tales. Thank you. This series, especially the final book, will remain in my heart for a very long time.
