Publisher's Summary

THRILLS, SPILLS, & ROMANCE...YA STYLE!

An ancient solid gold cross has been buried seemingly forever. Only Young Chase Baker is brave enough to dig it back up.

You know Chase Baker as an adventurer and Renaissance man who loves the ladies but who also loves finding trouble in the form of buried treasure all around the globe. But what was Chase like back when he was a teenager? Turns out, he was a younger version of his adult self.

In this, the first short novel in the new Young Chase Baker action & adventure series, Chase teams up with his two best amigos - the skinny, fun loving, Twigs, and the combative but courageous, Baily. At Chase’s urging, the three embark on a late night quest to uncover the Cross of the Last Crusade, which is said to have been buried along with the body of an old Frenchman, Pierre Menands. When Chase’s “sort of” girlfriend, the beautiful Monique, joins the hunt, the band of teens face down haunted ghosts, angry cops, a speeding locomotive, rabid dogs, a murderous resurrected crusader, and finally, the zombie reincarnation of Menands himself.

For fans of young adult, romantic suspense, alternative history, and action & adventure tales like those created by JR Rain, JK Rowling, Suzanne Collins, and Clive Cussler, New York Times and USA Today best-selling ITW Thriller Award winning author, Vincent Zandri, delivers a brand new thriller written for all ages and for everyone who loves a pulse-pounding, fast, edge-of-your-seat listen.

Fun and enjoyable for the whole family

Young Chase Baker book 1 was a very fun and adventurous ride. The characters are fun and inventive. The story flowed very well with rarely a dull moment. The story was fleshed out well and the created a sense of urgency for the characters. Twigs was funny with "The Claw" and the trio were very well formed.
The story was creative and funny with a lot of action and some twists and turns along the way. Very good start to a new young adult series based on Zandri's great characters.

Andrew Wehrlen was awesome. He has such a great chemistry with the audiobook format. He is able to bring the pages of the story to life. He sounds genuinely excited when narrating as though he would not want to be anywhere else.

I requested a free review copy of this audiobook and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review.

A Delightful Tale

Another delightful Chase Baker tale but this time it's a look at young Chase! It was quite the entertaining listen and is one of the best Young Adult books I have listened to. I love the older Chase Baker but learning about the younger years was a lot of fun. If you haven't checked out this series then you are sorely missing out. Vincent Zandri has become one of my favorite authors! I love his works and have recommended him to my friends. The narration was spot on and only added to the great story.

A great listen

I've become a fan of the Chase Baker series, so was intrigued by this book. This was pretty much a YA version of the familiar series. So, pretty darn good. The narration is fantastic, which is no surprise from Andrew Wehrlen. If you've enjoyed the Chase Baker series, or just want a quick, fun action/adventure story, you should pick this one up.

A Good read / listen

Young Chase Baker and the Cross of the Last Crusade: A Young Chase Baker Thriller. Let's classify this as a YA adventure, it's Chase Baker without the women and violence. None the less it's a great read/listen when you just want to relax.
Narration by Andrew is excellent and audio quality is very good.

Good Story Abrupt Ending

This is the first in a new series of Young Chase Baker Novels written by Vincent Zandri. The Publishers Blurbs almost tells the whole story. I thought there would be more but I was wrong. The story itself is a blend of Young Indiana Jones and the Goonies. I really did enjoy the story for the most part but the character of Twigs drove me nuts. The author did a perfect job of writing an obnoxious teenage boy. With the narrator creating a voice for the character that became like nails on a chalkboard for me 20 minutes into the story. My biggest complaint was the abrupt ending. The narration was very well done by Andrew B. Wehrlen his performance was memorable. I have heard His work in many genres and he always delivers a great performance. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Super!

Totally classic teenaged boys humor and idiocy EXCEPT that they get into some awesome investigating of an artifact and the whole thing kind of prepares readers for the adventures of the adult Chase Baker. The publisher's blurb covers a lot of the plot and introduces the characters, so there's no need to get into all that here. It's a fun book and the audio is even better! Andrew Wehrlen adds to the characters and to the goings on in a very good way.

Quick but entertaining young Chase Baker adventure

Young Chase Baker is full of fun and excitement just like he is when he grows up. His sense of adventure clearly started when he was young. This was a quick book but it is packed with so much excitement, danger and fun! We get a good look at how it all began. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

Today's junk is tomorrow's treasures, son.

Ever wonder what the intrepid explorer, archaeologist, best selling author and egotist was like as a child? Wonder no more. In Chase Baker and the Cross of the Last Crusade, we meet young Chase, 'the self-consciousness teen ... aged 15.' as well as his girlfriend Monique, his dad and his two best friends, Twigs and Bailey. Even then, Chase knew what he wanted to become.
Andrew Werhlen again breathes fast paced life, adventure, fear and fun into Mr.Zandri's action filled stories. A nice partnership, as always, of author and narrator.

The story is fairly short so the last part of the book gives us Chase as an adult, with introductory chapters from his first story, The Shroud Key, a good taster for new readers and a nice past reminder for those who have read it before. My thanks to the rights holder who, at my request, freely gifted me a complimentary copy of the book, via Audiobook Boom. I'm looking forward to more young Chase Baker exploits in the future.
