Publisher's Summary

Why is this relationship so hard? It is so invigorating to know that we don't have to stay stuck. Even if we're not the one struggling with narcissism, we can change the way we relate to the people who do.

Find out if the stress in your relationships with family, friends, or at work is unknowingly caused from narcissism in yourself or others... Narcissism is actually much more common than we may think and, in reality, most of us have some of these characteristics.

You Might Be a Narcissist If... was written by two psychotherapists and a psychiatrist with decades of both personal and professional experience with narcissism. It is filled with many interesting-to-hear stories taken from the authors' or their clients' lives that clearly demonstrate examples of narcissism. A narcissism questionnaire and practical suggestions are given for dealing with narcissism whether it's in your spouse, a co-worker, or even yourself.

Great book

Great book to really explain NPD and how it was created and how it’s acted on. I’ve recently learned about my NPD and have been digging deep...this is the best source I’ve found FOR people with NPD, and also helps others have a better understanding of the how and why.

The kindest book on narcissism

Almost every book about narcissism basically says they are the devil and you should run away and never look back. While oftentimes that may be true, I appreciate this gentler approach to describing and dealing with narcissism and narcissists.

Gave me answers that I did not expect

I started reading this book thinking I was a narcissist. I found through this reading that I came from a narcissist family. I found so many answers and I am ready for forgiveness. Life change for me by discovering things I never understood.

Wake up call

Very well written and read. Easy to follow and unfortunately, easy to relate. Great read. Bout 3 paperback copies for a few others to read.

Real Life

So many real life comparisons to display points of view. Very informal, and I'm so glad to of gained this knowledge. Hoping to grow myself and relationships seeing things from a newer point of view.

So-so

A few interesting points delivered in a very easy-to-understand way. Very simplistic, this seemed to be a quick, overarching description of common narcissistic behaviors and ways in which you can communicate more effectively with a narcissist.
My first audible experience, and I think the narrators tone of voice and delivery left a little something to be desired! And the “voice” of the authors’ seemed cheesy, outdated, and with a reference or two to the Bible, which I found to be very odd.

Did not delve into too much detail, and this book used a lot of language like “this will warm their heart”...

Wake up call! Subconscious mind exposed

I am just now waking up to the fact that I have way too many narcissistic traits. I can't believe that I've lived this long without knowing all of the things I have done to hurt my wife and loved ones. It's almost as if there has been a parasite in my brain making me act against my own true intentions of being a loving, supportive, and caring husband.

I feel totally sabotaged and shocked by the person I have been for so many years. Especially because I thought I was emotionally aware. I thought I had been good at apologizing when I've made a mistake, which most narcissists never do. But, even if my narcissism isn't as extreme as never apologizing, the thing about apologies is that it is completely empty if you don't follow through with changing the offending behavior.

I hope I'm not too late to save my marriage. If my wife and I didn't have kids, I would tell her to run from me and never look back. I can see and feel the hurt in her that I've caused. I never wanted to hurt her and I truly don't deserve a second chance.

Because of this book and many more that I will read, I am grateful to have a 2nd chance. For the first time, I feel like I can see myself clearly. That's what real change requires. I WILL rid myself of the monster inside of me.

Fantastic survey of narcissism in less than 3 hours!

The performance and voice was easy to listen to, it flowed well, and no confusing rabbit trails! It covered how Narcissism is birthed, the characteristics of Narcissism, and how it plays out in marriage, family, friends, and work!
