I really like that the author reads the book, as it adds authenticity. His passion makes it not as dry as other books in the same catagory. It's definitely one that needs to be listened to more than once, with note taking and practice!

I'm one who struggles with communication and I thought this book would help. there is so much GOLD in here!! There's so many tools and scenarios he includes to help it sink in and I've got to say I'll need to listen again and this time take notes.

Rings true and incredibly helpful every chapter.

The concept of the 1st chapter is worth the price for the book. The following chapters are as well.

I have purchased, given and am having the 17 pastoral leaders at the church I pastor go through an interactive book study to help strengthen their marriages and sharpen their approaches in marital and premarital counseling. The key concepts translate to all our relationships and will also help them defuse potential conflicts in church relationships. Well worth the read/listen!

The perfect process!

Emil's process when properly executed, which takes time to learn and perfect, (believe me I'm the one that's hard headed) can resolve any issue, complaint, or difficulty. I actually believe this process transcends conflict in marriage, it also helps with all relationships. I believe that even being a seasoned salesman, that applying these principles will increase my abilities in salesmanship! Make your life increase in happiness and be liked by all, by getting this method engrained into the fiber of your whole being!

I wish I had this book before I got married!

Emil does a fantastic job explaining the skills and framework to rewire our perspective and thoughts to turn conflict into closeness. Better yet, when implementing his communication strategy and we avoid the conflict to begin with, yet while holding ourselves and others accountable. My relationship with my wife has vastly improved from a place where things appeared to be irreconcilable to a place where we better understand each other, communicate with respect and good will/intent, and we better understand each other. I wish all couples could read this book, learn the principles, and be able to use them in their relationships early on in our lives. I look forward to teaching these principles to my children.

Valuable insights and new approach to conflict.

Quite repetitive in the explanations. Helpful information concerning disarming land-minds and general conflicts that occur in all relationships including but not limited to spousal, children, and business.

Worth listing to despite the redundancy.

Great book to help you communicate better!

Emil has developed some really great strategies for communicating effectively and they work! My husband and I have recently started applying them and have already noticed a big change in how close we feel while handling conflicts. No other book we've read on the subject has been as easy to follow nor has any other book provided us with actual tools that work the way this one has. I am also using the same tools to communicate with my teenagers.

Best Marriage Book I’ve Found by Far

This completely transformed my wife and my relationship—and she hasn’t even read the book yet. For any familiar with the 80/20 principle, Emil focuses on conflict, which despite only happening perhaps 20% of the time we spend each day in life with our spouse, creates 80% of the problems. Despite the helpfulness of many other marriage books, I believe Emil Harker hones in on the most critical, and incredibly practical, central keys to unlocking the problems behind marital conflict. Lastly, my favorite part about the style of the book is a combination of his conversational, informal tone, and dozens and dozens of specific examples he gives of conversations and situations between spouses. I couldn’t recommend more highly.
