Publisher's summary

The heart-pulsing sequel to You Made Me. To catch this monster is to become one.

A deadly attack shatters Claire Wolfe's dreams of a new life in Quantico. A cold-blooded assassin is hunting FBI agents, and she wants to get under Claire's skin...literally.

Together with her fiancé, Special Agent Robert Cline, and forensic profiler Dr. Sally Fleischer, Claire makes a startling discovery. This ruthless serial killer has a hidden agenda…and more names on her hit list.

But Claire's warnings go unheeded. Caught between hostile investigators, organized crime, and her narcissistic future mother-in-law, Claire must expose deadly secrets and cross red lines to outsmart this criminal mastermind.

With time running out until the next brutal murder in this gripping psychological thriller and police procedural pause-resister, Claire strikes a deal with the devil and faces an impossible choice; to stop this monster, will she sacrifice the man she loves?

Never a dull moment

I enjoyed that the series of books were read by the same person. Her voice changes per character helps captivate you. Another who done it take with Claire Wolfe as the lead lady. I enjoyed the characters continuing through the series. You get invested in who each person is and who might be responsible. Wonderful books! Completed the 3 book series in 2 weeks. Wish there were more.

Good, but…

The different accent voices are wearing on me. Sometimes the different cultural stuff feels like the author is leaning too much into stereotype. In a bad way.

This series

Is very good, but the same old same old story this time! Claire and Rob deserve more than Apex over and over again! The author developed good characters who are getting weaker and less inspiring in each book. They need something new.

An author with a woman problem

Her last book in this series was a showcase of multiple scenes of sexualized violence against women so horrible I was surprised it was written in this century. In this book she tries to even the score somewhat by a gruesome scene of torture by a woman to a man. One man only. The body count is low in this one. I want to give the author credit for her spunky heroine who mostly saves herself in the end but I just can’t get past her desire to outdo every writer to create the worst punishment possible for women while leaning into the sexual double standard. Sexual women with conventional beautiful bodies must be desecrated in this series. I hope she either stops writing like this or quits altogether. This book has an outrageous plot and an Ok storyline.
