HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SUSPENSE!
This is a great cat and mouse game book. I've never listened to anything by this author before but will definitely be looking at her other books. When I saw Lauren Ezzo was the narrator I decided to give it a try. I really like her and if it is a good book her narrating abilities could only make it better. It does.
This book begins with Karen Schaeffer despondent and suicidal. Her husband and young daughter had been murdered by an escaped serial killer. One she had put away when she was a detective. Now he wants her and she would have allowed it if she didn't realize at the last minute that it wouldn't end with her. This killer liked to take out whole families. She couldn't allow him to go after her extended family.
The antagonist is a sadistic serial killer known as the domino killer. At each murder scene he would leave clues to his next target in dominos.
This is very clever character driven fast paced story. Very well written and the characters fleshed out. This is a roller coaster ride of emotions with Karen's family and former partner first supporting her and ending with her protecting them.
This is the beginning of a series that I hope Audible will release the remaining books.
