Publisher's Summary

The Wyoming men are back! In their quest for true love on the range, are these ranchers bold enough to open their hearts to the women under their protection?

Ren Colter may own an enormous ranch in Wyoming, but he scorns his wealth. He's closed himself off since his fiancée left him years ago, so he's shocked when he allows Meredith Grayling to stay with him. He tells himself it's only to protect the blonde beauty from a stalker, but Ren's alpha instincts soon kick in.

The last thing Merrie wants is a devastatingly handsome man like Ren lurking around her. He's too experienced, too appealing for her already shot nerves. What she needs is just to get away from it all: the man haunting her waking dreams and the one hunting her like an animal. But no woman escapes this Colter cowboy!

Interesting story with mob ties.

What did you like best about this story?

Interesting story line with unexpected mob influence - I wasn't expecting that in a western set romance in modern times. The main heroin takes your through a journey of her growth learning about life after being raised by an abusive father who kept her in seclusion. Great hero character in Ren...loved that rich cowboy.

What didn’t you like about Todd McLaren’s performance?

In fairness to Mr McLaren - his male voice were excellent. He pulled off deep voiced main character - southern cowboys, and Italian mobster accents. However, the publishers really need to get female performers for the women. It was actually kind of hard to listen to a man trying to sound like a frail woman for the main character. Had I not already been drawn in by the actual story line, I may have stopped listening. It was worth it in the end, but this really needs to be addressed by the publisher.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I tried to listen to this all in one sitting - but it took 3 due to my schedule. I did find myself wanting to get back to it during the breaks.

Any additional comments?

Overall a good listen , good story, and good performance with the notes as above about the female voices.

Abused heroine hides from a hitman~ 3 STARS~

PLOT: Abused Meredith hides on hunky Ren Colter's secluded ranch.

Meredith was abused physically and mentally by her father. She inherits a vast fortune from her mother. and now hired killers are out to finish off Meredith. She ends up hiding out at Ren Colter's ranch. She has a stalker/hitman hot on her trails. Ren assumes the worst and makes a move on the shy beauty. He assumes she is a worldly. Meredith moves back to Texas to safety away from the hitman and Ren. But is injured when another man attempts to kill her. So the romance continues with her recovery.

The story is OK. Ren is a woman hater. Meredith is a bit too down trodden from abuse. Loopholes in the plot....Heroine can order all kinds of stuff on amazon yet cannot order her own coat and gloves? The reader is a man who is good in male voices but his horrible female impressions is both distracting and makes it hard to want finish the book. Why not get a "real" female to read this book? It could only improve it. I give it over all 3 STARS.....

Pass on this one

I've read a couple of the Diana Palmer Wyoming books and I have started to notice a trend...the hero is always a pig headed cowboy who's hellbent on repeatedly believing the worst about the woman he suddenly realizes he LOVES and all this takes place in the span of weeks. Then at the end the heroine who has been pining away forgives all his horrible behavior and they are supposed to live happily ever after. If you enjoy fantasizing about a man who takes the heroine for granted and is mean to her 90% of the book then go for this one, otherwise I'd recommend skipping this one...

Wyoming Hit!

Another good book in the Wyoming series. Hopefully, there will be more to come. A book on "cousin" Mikey would be great!

Biiiiig Disappointment

This story is why you’re supposed to listen to the sample before purchasing. I will never skip that step again! Out of all my audible books, I’ve never had a time when the narrator ruined the book. That was 100% the case here. He does a decent enough job on the male voices, although they are too similar. However, the best I can say about the voice for the lead female is “Winnie the Pooh”. It is SO. BAD. The story itself is pretty lame and I thought my head would explode if I heard “Daddy didn’t like that” one more time. Super, duper repetitive and just bad all around. I’m very disappointed.

Narrator Change

I've really been enjoying this series, but don't like when there is a narrator change in the middle. I really like Phil Gigante reading much better

Basic modern DP

Have you listened to any of Todd McLaren’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Got a bit monotone at times and voices blended. He still not great a female voices so they tend to sound the same

Any additional comments?

This is part two of the story started in defender. It helps if you have read defender as many of the same characters appear along with some old favs and recent couples. This is your basic modern DP with virginal female lead being a person of faith and a damaged much older male lead. About half the book happens in Wyoming the rest back in Texas. The story plods along enough not to be boring. There are some lol moments as standard in any DP book. Cousin Mikey and associates provide some OMG and lol moments. Many of the characters involved in defender are back including the avengers and we learn a bit about them. Not a lot in the way of updates about other couples but a few recent ones pop up. The croc incident involving rouke and Carson gets a mention. There are the usual misunderstanding and edited info that cause problems which are coming to be standard in all DP books. So is the fact that story arcs span different series. Overall its a decent read and worth a listen. Not one to listen to in a single sitting but ok
