Great Narration

I really did not care for the overall story of Wuthering Heights. I found the repeated names confusing and the story just super, duper depressing. The writing however is beautiful and I love the landscape descriptions. They are stunning. I also love the spookiness and haunting that occurs in the story. Judy Holt's narration kept me listening though. Her voices were great and her voice is very easy to listen to. I know Wuthering Heights is a favourite book to many. If you are wanting to reread or are new to the book, you cannot go wrong with Judy Holt's narration. I would easily listen to her again. I received a copy of this audiobook at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review.

An excellent performance of a great novel

Highly recommended. The story is compelling and the narration is great. I don't know how the other versions of this book compare, but this one is really great.

Great rendition of a classic

This is the first audio version of this book I’ve listened to. I’ve read the book several times. I really like it. This rendition was good. This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Judy Holt ) and I would listen to another. Her character voices (accents) are appropriate and she also differentiates the characters by adding personality to their voice. This is a great listen. There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review. Please feel free to comment on whether you found my review helpful.

Excellent Classic

This is a classic and not much more can be said that hasn't already been stated. So I'll just comment on the narration. Judy Holt does a superb job with this dark tale. The voices are wonderfully distinct and the emotions nicely felt. She really brings home the characters and their personalities. I remember (too long ago) reading this book in high school but found, now I'm older, I enjoyed listening to this tale even more. A great way to aquatint or reacquaint yourself with this classic tale. A very dark classic...

Although a very dark tale indeed, full of so may distasteful, unlikeable characters... yet so worth the listen. Everything has already been said about this book so I have nothing insightful to add other than Judy Holt's rendition of this classic is outstanding! I was given this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

wow

Heathcliff and Catherine's love story is not as romantic as I have heard and thought it would be. Heathcliff made my skin crawl with his attitude/manners. Catherine irritated me too... but her daughter and nephew were better people... but bit weird with the way their part ended...

Happy I finished reading finally!

It is not often that I will stick with a book full of characters that are so utterly corrupted. Why did I continue reading? The language is beautiful and the book is a classic and compelled me to keep going. I tried reading this several decades ago when I was a young woman, but it was so dark and scary to me that I put it down. This time, I committed to finishing and although I am sickened by all of the drama and distortion, I have learned that nothing good can come out of the drama dynamic. Recently I read The Power of TED by David Emerald and have been working through my world trying to live in the Empowerment Dynamic, therefore this classic book reinforced the reason why I want to lift myself out of drama. Judy Holt does a fantastic job with the audiobook, who knows? I may listen to it again someday.

Nice

This is a great audiobook and definitely a classic. It has touches of "Great Expectations" in the story, with that tragic romance kind of feel. It gets a little bit confusing with some of the characters as some of them have similar names or the same parts of their names, but overall I liked it. It's a more somber audiobook, but still enjoyable!

A very Gothic and dark story

everyone has heard of this audiobook so I probably don't need to give a review, but I will anyway. Some have seen the movie adaptations of this book as well so some already know the storyline and what this audio book is about.

This version was easy to read

The immemorial lovers, Cathy and Heathcliff, created by Emily Bronte, are unforgettable in the realm of literary classics. This version was easy to listen to, even by early 19th century standards. I loved the drama of emotional characters, portrayed by these Intimate lovers in spirit and the supernatural physical realm. A must-listen for anyone wanting to experience love beyond eternity.

A timeless classic

A timeless classic. I listen to this audiobook a long time ago and decided to read it again. Enjoyed it even more as a more mature woman. :-) It's a sad story that makes you feel sorry for many of the characters but it's a good escape back to a time and place so different from where we are now.

High quality, better than expected

I am very pleased with the quality of this audiobook. I already loved the story of "Wuthering Heights" before buying this copy, but the quality of the audiobook itself made listening to it even better.

Simply the best edition

I am not comparing this mass produced edition against custom-made. That would be unfair. But as a commercial high-volume publisher,

top of the my list

Hundreds of romance novels penned since Pride and Prejudice feature a sparring couple who fall in love despite a strong initial dislike of one another. However, I've never listened to one that used this trope as wonderfully as Jane Austen's masterwork.
