Publisher's summary

Authored by a former story analyst-turned-development executive, this newly revised, expanded, and updated edition of The 1-3-5 Story Structure Made Simple System guides screenwriters, producers, and other entertainment industry professionals through the industry's best practices. This includes writing, developing, pitching, and selling a screenplay from the buyer's point of view.

The highlights of this audiobook include:

  • A step-by-step pitch formula that will speedily shift you into professional pitches
  • A chapter on doing a weekend analysis to create coverage of your own script; and
  • Many more updates and additions throughout the book

This book is about 33 percent bigger than the original 1-3-5 book, but it still makes story structure simple! Now, 10 years since the first release of The 1-3-5 Story Structure Made Simple System, the techniques are taught in media programs nationwide and this was the first story structure system integrated into Final Draft's industry-leading screenwriting software.

I tried

This is the first book that is hard to follow. The reading is monotonous, I see the writer is reading it but for me it doesn’t work.

The only book you'll need for screenwriting

Throw all those other books away. This is a simple, clean way to write without being bogged down with too much information.
Follow these steps exactly and you will have a first draft soon enough.

This is a joke

This might be some of the worst advice I have ever read/listened to. This is terrible.
