Emotional Story

This book picks up from book 1. Haven and Tessa are mates. Haven risked his life to save Tessa during a fight with an enemy from the past when he ends up in the in-between. Tessa dream walked there to convince him to return to the life of the living. Something happened to Tessa while there that sends her back to the in-between for months. Haven was an emotional wreck. This is a good story about love.

The narrator did a good job but, at times, I could not tell if a male or female was speaking. I received this free copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Quick read

The narrator did a great job. I wasn’t as thrilled about this couples story as I was the first book in this series.

Mystic Valley Shifters

This is the second book in the Mystic Valley Series. Haven and Tessa's story continues where the first book ended. The storyline is original, and intriguing, filled with twists and turns, and drama. Adelaide Skye has a beautiful voice, but the characters weren't easy to distinguish. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Willing. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Another Job Well Done

This was an excellent continuation for this series. Lc Taylor continues to keep me interested and entertained. I already have book 3, and am eagerly awaiting it.

Adelaide Skye has done such a wonderful job in this book. I definitely plan to read more of her work in the future.

Juvenile

I received a free copy of this audiobook either from the author or a promotion or giveaway and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review. I'd have liked to enjoy it and write a nice review but I can't honestly give a 5 star review for a 2 star book.

So, having sort of enjoyed book one which set the scene for the series I thought book two would pick up the pace and excitement but sadly I was disappointed.

While this is A shape-shifter/urban fantasy book I must assume it's intended for the YA market as the writing is quite juvenile in many places and is very repetitive throughout the book. To add to that, in the audiobook version there are about a dozen places where the same sentence is repeated as though the playback has skipped back a few seconds, obviously poor production or editing.

There are a few inconsistencies that had me a little confused. Without trying to give spoilers someone has an issue and needs the help of two other characters who won't be visiting for two days. Two weeks later the saem person still needs help but apparently hasn't met or been visited by the two characters, and yet as the danger progresses both of the two characters turn out to be only a quick phone call away and arrive quickly. Confused? Yep, so was I. It didn't make much sense.

The source of the "danger" became apparent to the powerful witches, shifters and everyone else towrads the end of the book although it was blatantly obvious from much earlier on what the problem was. I mean seriously, it may have well been written in bright pink neon capitals it was so glaringly obvious.

About 90% of the book takes place in one bedroom or the in-between with alomost nothing going on apart from the one thin thread of a storyline that was dragged out far longer than it needed to be. I was soon getting bored, knowing what the outcome would likely be and praying that they'd get on with it and move along. Oh, and there's almost no shifting involved in the entire book.

I also received books 3-5 from the author but I'm unlikely to bother reading them. The synopsis seems the same for each: Boy meets girl, one or other plays hard to get, causes proiblems which take a whole book to resolve and finally get together, blah, blah, blah.

Haven & Tessa

Wretched is an enjoyable shifter romance, loaded with drama, emotions, and passion. The storyline is fast-paced, well-developed, well-written; to some degrees leaning toward the young adult audience. Adelaide Skye does a great job with the narration good job. The characters' voice sounds similar; however, her performance is still enjoyable.
