Publisher's Summary

"I saw his face." Deborah Hall's words launched the destiny of two men from very different worlds. Ron Hall was an international art dealer with upscale tastes; Denver Moore was a homeless drifter with a dangerous past. Millions have read about their unlikely bond through their first book, Same Kind of Different as Me - a New York Times best seller and now a major motion picture.

Workin' Our Way Home describes the 10 years Ron and Denver lived together after Miss Debbie's death. Written in both Ron's and Denver's unique voices, their inspiring (and often hilarious) adventures include:

  • Their sometimes-bizarre life together in the Murchison Mansion
  • Denver accidentally almost burning the house down - twice
  • The challenges involved with making a movie
  • Two visits to the White House
  • Travelling the country to raise awareness about homelessness
  • And much more

With both wit and wisdom, this book reveals God's plan lived out through these men and those closest to them, including their passion to fulfill Debbie's dream of easing the pain and humiliation associated with homelessness, poverty, and inequality.

"Whether we is rich or whether we is poor, or somethin in between, this earth ain't no final restin place. So in a way, we is all homeless - ever last one of us - just workin our way home." (Denver Moore)

God is in control.

This is a great example on the miracles God can work. I love the fact that this is based on real life events....quite the feel good story. Anyone who reads this will receive a humanitarian lesson of LOVE.

Fabulous experience

I loved this audio book
I met Ron yesterday in Augusta Ga and feel like I greeted an old friend because I had lived so many of these moments through this recording.

Not for everyone.

Given the rave reviews, I was expecting a lot more. I struggled getting to the end, it kept going on and on without anything new happening. I also got very tired of Ron Hall congratulating himself. I am sorry, but he comes off as some rich dude with a healthy amount of White Guilt (like all his friends). Denver's character is also not very believable (more like a caricature). He is described as being mentally ill and yet the story does not always bear that out. I would imagine there was considerable embellishment. I was also truly bothered by the stereotypical portrayal of a Southern Black Man. Too much was made of his voice and his mispronunciation of words. I am hopeful that a lot of money was truly raised to help the homeless, that would be the most redeemable part of this story. In my opinion, this work does not deserve these rave reviews.

YOU BETTER LOVE JESUS FOR THIS BOOK!

This book is all about how great God is, & how miraculous he is. If by chance you are not a totally devout religious sort then this will grate. It is so disappointing that the whole book is in praise of Jesus, of religion & how through God you can improve your life. The other huge elephant in the room is it says it is true story, it is not. Unless of course you are willing to put aside logical reasoning. At one point a dead lady appears at the end of a guys bed to welcome him to her house & is naturally praising the Lord & is bathed in the traditional white light of love & peace. Really!

If you are a Uber Christian, buy it. If you not, it will be a total turn off.

Inspirational

The story captivated me. I loved how each chapter was spoken by the perspective of Ron and Denver as they alternated from one chapter to the next, telling the story as they saw it!!! After listening to it, my husband and I listened to it on a recent road trip. I plan on listening to Same Kind of Different as Me now that I have listened to this, even though I saw the movie. However, the actors did such an incredible job playing their respective roles!!!

Loved the book, the message and the performance

The transitioning music and alternating narration made listening to this book. The story told makes you think and gives a better understanding of the various issues discussed in this book.
