Women Don't Owe You Pretty is the ultimate book for anyone who wants to challenge the out-dated narratives supplied to us by the patriarchy.

Florence Given is here to remind you that you owe men nothing, least of all pretty.
Warning: contains explicit content (and a load of uncomfortable truths).
The feminist book everyone is talking about.

Wonderful, thank you Flo!!
I really enjoyed this audio book
Flo really dipped her toes into so many subjects that this really makes a great introduction into the world of feminism, self-awareness and growing into your whole human self.
She's also wonderfully aware of the privilege she holds and actively addresses it (I also much prefer her use of the word "marginalized" than the more common "minority" when referring to particular groups who face oppression) this made the book really comfortable for me (POC) to read.
This book does exactly what I was hoping, and I'm very happy to have read the audiobook! I would (and am!) reccomend this to others! :)

Not my thing!
I found 2 or 3 chapters useful and inspiring. However the rest was not for me at all. I didn’t enjoy the way the book was read, I felt almost like Florence was talking AT me, she also comes across as a “man hater” in my opinion. Over all not great if your not a massive feminist.

Eye opening
As white men, we sometimes get glimpses of how privileged we are. This book really opened my eyes to how the world treats those who are not as privileged. The depth of the entrenched gender roles is hard to ignore after reading this.
I understand Florence's path and thank her for sharing her story. I am, however, left with a question. How uncompromising should we be with our relationships? Should a relationship with your partner *never* be hard?
My wife and I read this and then we read Five Love Languages. Made for some real laughs at Gary's expense 😂

It's okay
I've been following her Instagram account for a while and thought it'd be better to get the audiobook, however the majority of this book feels like ranty instagram posts - most chapters are only between 5 - 7 minutes long.
In my opinion, the topics mentioned or 'discussed' are very one sided and I guess they're experiences the author must have been through multiple times and now she wants you to know not to do the same thing, such as don't wear a bodycon dress with high heels and be uncomfortable just to please a man (idk if it's just me, but I've always dressed for myself, not for anyone else) - however, it comes across more like hate at anything considered hetero.
It feels like it was written by someone who had a very sheltered upbringing and suddenly had an epiphany one day to not believe everything in advertisements or films.
I'd say it's worth listening to if you don't have love for yourself or know that you don't need a significant other to be happy, but don't just believe every word she says - what works for her may not work for you.
It's a very short book so you'll get through it quickly. But there's a lot of ranting and I think a mistake at one point in the recording where she had to reread a word?
Overall it's a bit meh and not what I expected unfortunately, it's just a regurgitation of her instagram posts in book format.

Plagiarism
Very angry and disturbed this content was stolen from The Slumflower. The book is hypocritical and I feel really sad that I downloaded this and bought a physical copy when it is just a rip off of black women whom Floss claims to be an ally to.

You should read the original
I hope this book helps someone but you should check out the original "What a time to be alone" by Chidera Eggerua. I wish I had read it before this copy. As Chidera's is a much more inclusive version of feminism.

LMFAO
I had to laugh. This is terrible writing with immature views and as a lot of other reviewers have pointed out, reeks of virtue signalling.
Sigh, instagram and snapchat have done more to fry the brains of millenials than any nuclear disaster could have.
Forget having a man in her life, I wonder how the writer’s ( if one can call her a writer) female friends tolerate her? She is angry for all the usual teenage issues which in her case have seeped into her twenties.
An absolutely useless read.

Get more years under your belt
Get some more years under your belt
While it does have some great empowering things to say to young women.
It trips over itself I think time and again by trying not to hurt anyone’s feelings and be as PC as possible.
The writer I’m sure has some experience of life however I believe that being 20 years old and being an adult for less than 1/4 of her life shows through in this.
Nothing like evil capitalism to make you rich and give you perfect stage to preach

Immature.
Immature. A juvenile account of what it means to be feminist written by a 20 year old who seems to think she’s seen and heard it all. Laughable.

Couldn’t get through chapter one
This book feels very adolescent. It’s riddled with blame and destructive stereotypes. It’s white, ableist privilege centric. Talks about eating disorders like they’re a choice. Really truly terrible and helpful.

I Couldn't return this to audible fast enough
I bought this book without researching who the author was & that she is only 20 year old & sounds it. At 52 myself there is nothing to learn from her here. The author comes across as particularly angry. I was born red hair & white pale skin to a misogynist & racist man with a brute of a wife who both beat me for no reason but 'put some lipstick on'. I don't have time or energy to join this team, I have enough to get on with myself.

Mediocre/disappointing to hear stolen work
I was such a huge fan of this artist/author on instagram, & held her voice in such high esteem. Unfortunately I found the audiobook overall lacking in depth, lacking in fully fleshing out concepts, lacking in autobiography/anecdotal stories, & the most saddening part is apparently she has been alleged to have stolen/appropriated much of her concepts & content from WOC influencers/authors including TheSlumFlower Chidera Eggerue. I really gave this book a chance & listened to 80% before I gave up. I am returning to spend the $$ on WOC books said to have influenced this author.

good but not for me
I felt at times she was shouting at me for not being a good feminist. she brought points up but then had no practical way of implementing them unless it was extrem measures. she did make some great points in encouraging women to love themselves above all else and embrace who you are and don't settle for crumbs when someone out there will give you the whole cake. but overall I felt slightly attacked

Support Chidera Eggerue instead.
This book was plagiarised by FG from Chidera Eggerue's work. I recommend going straight to the source and buying 'How To Get Over A Boy' and 'What A Time To Be Alone'.

Love the messages in this book.
One of my managers actually got me onto this book. I lost my physical copy and listened through audible and I’m so happy I did. I’m grateful my manager cared enough about me to share this book with me. Wonderful messages and I recommended to a customer as well. It was a pleasure listening to the author read the book as well

I wanted to like it
I really wanted to like it but I just couldn't. It reeks of over the enthusiastic social justice high you get in your first year of uni. I think I expected something more from her, like how to deal with men calling me dahling in the workplace but all I got was anger and bitterness. It left a bad taste in mouth.

A must listen for ALL women and frankly all men and NB as well
Such a fantastic audio book written by a young and very wise woman. This book is very freeing - teaching us all to be our own authentic selves and not to give in to society’s expectations.

Changed my life!
What an amazing book ! I’m currently on a healing journey and I learnt so much about myself from this book. Honestly if you are or identify as a woman you NEED to read this book. Or if your a man, it’s a good read to truly understand a females perspective. Just amazing!!

not original, ironic at best
Some basic "stop looking for validation from others" points are about all that seemed valid. The constant reference to "my years of experience" from a 20yr old had me laughing out loud, if you add up "years of experience" referenced Florence would be about 35yr old.
