Publisher's Summary

St. Peter's Square, Rome.

White smoke signals that a new Pope has been chosen.

Is it possible that the new Pope...is a woman?

The world is watching as massive crowds gather in Rome, waiting for news of a new pope, one who promises to be unlike any other in history. It's a turning point that may change the church forever. Some followers are ecstatic that the movement reinvigorating the church is about to reach the Vatican, but the leading candidate has made a legion of powerful enemies who aren't afraid to kill for their cause.

Faith has never come easy for Brigid Fitzgerald. From her difficult childhood with drug-addled parents to her career as a doctor healing the wounded in Sudan to a series of trials that test her beliefs at every turn, Brigid's convictions and callings have made her the target of all those who fear that the church has lost its way - dangerous adversaries who abhor challenges to tradition. Locked in a deadly, high-stakes battle with forces determined to undermine everything she believes in, Brigid must convert her enemies to her cause before she loses her faith...and her life.

Spanning the globe - from the drug dens, high-powered law firms, and churches of Boston to the horrific brutality of a civil war in the Sudanese desert to the beauty, violence, and spiritual enlightenment of the Holy Land - Woman of God is an epic, thrilling tale of perseverance, love, trust, and nothing less than what it means to live in a fallen world.

My review of Woman of God.

I absolutely loved this book! The narrator did a fabulous part of reading the character of the hero and in the story! I also deeply appreciated how the author dealt with some serious issues within the church today. Because I'm a pastor myself, I hung onto every word. A wonderful listen.

Excellent reader!

This is one of the best female readers I have heard – her inflection and intonation was perfect for each character. About the novel: if readers expect a theological masterpiece, this is not it – it is an entertaining novel. The characters become heroes by simply doing the next right thing… and I appreciated the characters imperfections and doubts. It has been said, "The opposite of faith is not doubt. The opposite of faith is certainty. " These characters had very little certainty about life, but continued to return to a simple dependence on God. I like the direction Patterson and many other authors seem to be heading toward developing characters with morality, maturity, innocence, faith, and simplicity.

Not quite what I am used to from Patterson.

This book was a little depressing as the main character went from tragedy to tragedy in quick succession. I am used to Patterson grabbing me until the end but I could have walked away from this book at any time. Sad.

Great read! Get it right away!

I usually don't take the time to review the books I listen to, but this story is so good I want to recommend it! Loved the story line and lived the characters! I highly recommend it to those who like Patterson/Paetro and also to those who haven't read their books. Left me feeling good.

Unbelievably Good -

It's been a long time, since I listened to a book that can seamlessly take me from one great story to another - non stop. I listened to it in one day.

It didn't make me a believer but the story was awesome!

God's Woman

There wasn't anything that I didn't like. I enjoyed it all. I'm not Catholic but I am a Christian. It was interesting to read about possible changes in the Catholic Church. I agreed with most of what the author did.
As always the author did a top rate job. I enjoyed all the characters and how he wove them into the story.
Overall a great read.

Gut wrenching, heart breaking, uplifting

I was drawn to this book from the sample left at the end of another Patterson book. This story kept my attention and uplifted my countenance through each harrowing adventure. I couldn't put it down until the end. Way to go authors. Another "Hit!"
