This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
Caroline Knight, proud podcaster and mystery-solver, is on the strangest case of her career. Two ancient vases were stolen, and their owners were brutally murdered. When her life is threatened, she knows she is on to something. Meeting a man so hot he makes her knees buckle is definitely not what she expected while crime-solving.

The last thing wolf shifter Ryland Wolverton wants is a complication. His life is busy enough running the International Crime Unit of his family’s company, Blood Moon Agency. He doesn’t need a mate to be satisfied. Especially not a beautiful, sassy and strong-minded podcaster who gets herself into trouble.

The second Caroline flies into his life everything changes. Ryland doesn’t want a mate, but he doesn’t want to lose Caroline either. Falling in love while hunting down a murderer wasn’t part of the plan. The wolf and the podcaster might be together foreverunless their love is cut short by unknown enemies.

The problem with virtual voice narrations is all the issues you run into. Like difficulty projecting emotion, punctuation, enunciation, mis-pronouncing words based on spelling interpretation. What you're left with is a monotonous, flat read by an artificial voice that can't differentiate between characters, male, or female. That's the other thing...it's a VIRTUAL VOICE. If it's reading a story between two different characters (e.g. man and woman) why can't it change to represent the sex of the character it's supposed to be representing. It's so confusing when you start listening to a character that has no indication at the beginning of the read if they are male or female. Then they start talking about another character and expressing appreciation for their looks, indicating some kind of attraction, etc but you don't know if, because the virtual voice is female and doing this or vice versa, if that character is a member of the opposite sex or homosexual. Not that it would make a difference either way but it is very confusing if you have no idea if the character you're listening to is supposed to be a man being read by a woman or vice versa. I didn't make it very far into this book before I got annoyed with the virtual voice and just stopped listening before removing it from my library. For these reasons I avoid any books being read by virtual voice.
