In the Alliance capital, young Wit has just been promoted from apprentice to full wizard - and saddled with the very unglamorous task of traveling to a distant iron mine to inspect it for fraud. Worse yet, he's partnered with Wa'llach, a drunken dwarven prisoner who's killed more people than most plagues. Yet those skills are about to become very handy.

Now a student at Wurthaven, Will is confronted with the truth of the present. The powerful magic embodied by wizards like his grandfather is but a distant memory. Though the practice of the current day is timid and uninspired, Will needs the knowledge that’s preserved and managed by the college. At every turn he finds that sorcery is supreme, while wizards are trained merely to assist and support those who hold the real power - a power based on an evil so deep that few who are living know the truth of its foundation.

Rise of a Wizard Queen continues Kohanek’s epic adventure. Well written and performed amazingly by Travis Baldree. The tension is torqued to the max at the end, setting up for the resolution. I can’t wait for the next and last Audible version of this great series.

The Journey Continues
While book 4 had our intrepid MC's gallivanting about in strange lands and battling even stranger foes in search of objects of power, this book has them cruising about, medieval-style, strange new lands and even stranger foes mostly under cryptic commands from mysterious pirate-like guides who possess a similar ability as the seers in their knowledge of prophesy and the MC's role in it. The MC fellowship was still split accomplishing separate quests and while they were adventurous, dangerous and filled with twists, foreboding and uncertainty, this book was more about broadening the MCs (and us listeners) understanding of the bigger picture and their roles in it. Aside from our fellowship, the other primary focus of this book was one Queen Wizard Lord Priella and Wizard Lord Thurvin, with her thirst to acquire more power and Thurvin's manic drive to RULE THE WORLD. There are significant twists and turns between them and those who report to them with one significant set of twists near the end that was secretly planned and made known during the boss battle. There were elements of both Tolkien (wizards, elves, orcs, &c) and Sanderson (fractured lands) but with completely different story arcs. I dropped a star since the last secretly plan twist was left needlessly hanging. Still, I enjoyed the book and the narrator and eagerly await the next book in the series.

No need for further book. Horrible.
The story has turned everyone to a handpuppet. Nothing that the heroes has prevoiusly done matters. Everything and I mean everything was planned by some godly being/beings. Its micromanaged in the dumbest way. The MC trusts, get posioned and does a task to get free several times. Its just stupid! No answer are giving, I just narrows it down to the master puppeteer/s with a bunch of fillers. There is a dragon, there are several old romance popping up that bring nothing to the story. I guess the author will line up everything and I don't care anymore. Its not fun not believable. And whats up with the MC constantly cross dressing - its not funny the 3rd time. It just feel like an fetisch the authors have. The same can be said of the constant oggeling of the princess and trying to get all the characters nude. Its not sexy, its annoying and uncomfortable at best. Characters dont developer at all. They act whiny an whisywassy about everything. Too bad this series took such a dive. I rated book 1-3 4 stars, Book 4 3 stars and now I have had enough.
