Publisher's Summary

"Camden takes readers on a breathless ride..." (RT Book Reviews)

In the shadow of the nation's capital, Kate Livingston's respectable life as a government worker is disrupted by an encounter with the insufferable Trevor McDonough, the one man she'd hoped never to see again. A Harvard-trained physician, Trevor never showed the tiniest flicker of interest in Kate, and business is the only reason he has sought her out now.

Despite her misgivings, Kate agrees to Trevor's risky proposal to join him in his work to find a cure for tuberculosis. As Kate begins to unlock the mysteries of Trevor's past, his hidden depths fascinate her. However, a shadowy enemy lies in wait, and Trevor's closely guarded secrets are darker than she ever suspected.

As revelations from the past threaten to destroy their careers, their dreams, and even their lives, Trevor and Kate find themselves in a painfully impossible situation. With everything to lose, they must find the strength to trust that hope and love can prevail over all.

Intriguing romantic tale with feeling

I love the way Elizabeth Camden unfolds a story and intertwines romance with some pieces of history, drama and mystery. It’s like reading several genres in one book! Wonderfully written and the narrated tone was on point with the characters and mood of the story.

Binge Worthy! Couldn't put it down.

With beautifully developing characters, Elizabeth Camden guides us through an unlikely, suspenseful love story. Set in 19th century Washington, DC, With Every Breath combines a physician's dangerous quest for tuberculosis cure, family dynamics of two people from different backgrounds, a protagonist struggling with faith in the face of death, a suspenseful criminal investigation, and the choices of two people who fall for each other in a complex world.

With her narration, Alice Anne English elevated an already alluring story line. She accomplished a feat I didn't know was possible: her reading was both utterly soothing and completely captivating at the same time. As I listened to her speak, I found myself laughing out loud (literally), tearing up in an uber on the way to work, and rooting for the protagonists with the gusto of a high school coach. Every time I paused With Every Breath, I caught myself giddy rethinking the plot and eagerly planning when I could listen again. It was magical. I'll be buying more audiobooks narrated by Alice Anne English right away.

Favorite So Far

This is my third book that I have listened to by Elizabeth Camden, and it is by far my favorite. I enjoy romance novels, but I do not like fluff or smut. This book develops believable characters that examine the human condition and educate people on a time long forgotten. I particularly enjoy that Ms. Camden does not shy away from the pain and suffering that we suffer in this world. She weaves stories that are authentic as they show how God can bring joy amidst the sorrows. I also appreciate the element of intrigue in this novel. I highly recommend this book.

Outstanding

There are so many good historical novels, but this one is outstanding! I love the relationship between and the personalities of the leading characters. Love, mystery, and history. A winning combination!

This is a perfect novel !The begining ,the ending and as they say, the twist which left much to unfold in the imagination ! I have volunteered in the prisons teaching religious education. Every two years we are rear to tHe a TH test. As strange as it seems I never questioned why ! I just loved being with those residence especially when they particularly in retreats that have them great hope and insight for their lives . God bless all those involved in their dedicated work to bring about cures effecting the humanrace. !

Exceptional and Uplifting

When I saw the next Elizabeth Camden’s book revolted around the story of working with tuberculosis patients, I thought it would be too full of Nicholas Sparks sadness. I must have happy-ever-after. This plot is exception, full of romance, compassion and a rich history. Very up-lifting! PG13

E. Camden delivers again!

Not all of Camden’s books have captured the sharp wit, intelligence and humor that I’ve come to expect from her books. I’ve been disappointed a few times but not this time! An excellent read. Narrator a little difficult to listen to but did not detract much from the story. Excellent!!!

But where's the prologue???

I love this book, and the narrator really brought it to life, but I was so so so disappointed the prologue was missing! I read it a few years ago and still remember it with fondness. It would have made the whole audio form so much better. Please add it if possible, because I imagine it is some technically glitch.
