Critic Reviews

"Syke Jethani tenderly unmasks the clichéd posturing that too often masquerades as genuine communion with Christ." (James H. Gilmore, author of The Experience Economy)
"Skye Jethani does each of us a great service in calling us to reimagine the way we relate to God." (Paul Louis Metzger, PhD, professor of Christian theology and author of The Gospel of John: When Love Comes to Town)
"Skye Jethani convincingly diagnoses the reigning paradigms of life - whether secular or religious - and shows how each one has captured some element of truth but in the end is deficient." (Jim Belcher, author of Deep Church)

Some book I was given

One of the guys who recommended this book before a mission trip said he wanted to throw this book out of the 2nd floor window of his home about half way in. About there myself as it is not always fun when you realize where you are at on your journey and where you would like to be.

Excellent book - great perspective

I really enjoyed this book. I was impressed with the different perspectives of God presented followed by scripture providing what it means to truly live a life with God. I highly suggest this book!

Transformational

The narration is very well done. The content has radically changed the way I view myself and the world around me. It is changing the way I relate to the creator. Few books have had such a profound impact on my life.

Doubt/disgusted w/ "church", you are welcomed here

Having family and friends (and I myself have been, too) who are plauged by doubt and disgust for what we see in the church, this book is incredibly healing, insightful, and encouraging.
It's ironic that I'm writing this is a "must" read/listen as that sounds like an erroneous "For God" posture, but I write that not to pressure anyone to do more, but simply because it's so foundational yet so many other books totally miss out on this basic understanding of WITH God.

With

It seems a little “over the top” to say “this book changed my life”. Not sure I can describe it any other way. My relationship with God won’t be the same

I would have preferred that the book was read by the author. I love Skye.

Acts like it's a sin to obey Jesus

Another Baptist saying religion is bad and that you don't have to obey Jesus what a joke

a must read for all

Challenge your worldview. Challenger mind and challenge your heart. Read this book and take a much closer look at how you relate to God. This was one of the most eye opening books I have ever read in relationship to my walk with God. I do not believe I will ever think the same ways that I have thought in the past about who God is and how He desires us to desire Him in Him alone

Challenging in a good way

If you are feeling disillusioned with organized religion and disturbed by what is going on in the faith lately, this is the big brethren hug you’ve been missing. Thought provoking, insightful and scriptural. A beautiful reminder. So thankful for Skye’s voice in the world right now.
