Machinery Technician Third Class Eric Hagen of the US Coast Guard abandons his post out of Jacksonville, Florida, after his whole world is transformed. Traveling north in a post-apocalyptic world, Eric leads a team of four to Baltimore, Maryland, in search of his family, and in the process forms a family of his own. The cold winter months provide some relief from the undead, but Eric soon realizes that dangers from within his newly-formed family are just as deadly as the perils outside.

Good horror.

I enjoyed the horror. The narrator could have been a little decisive. A very good read, highly recommend for horror fans.

A Good, Solid zombie story! This is the kind of story where you have lots of action, a good story line to follow, human battle, still food human beings willing to be good and most of all....Lots of Zombie action! to often writers are coming out with all kinds of additives to make their story work, yet they are looking the integrity of a solid enjoyable story. I can accept change but we all know what additives do to us! Yep, you have a new fan Mr. Deyo!
As for your narrator, you too have a new fan...very well don't! I applaud you both!

Maybe its just me being burnt out on Z fiction but the book just seemed a mish mash of the same ole thing. As expected, to be continued but I won't be following the series if that is where it is headed. Just not interesting enough. And if it is not the start of a series then wtf? Aren't stories supposed to have a beginning, middle and end? Great book if on sale otherwise a terrific example of why Audible has a reasonable refund policy.
As I stated, could just be me and never judge a book by a single review.
Now go hear a book!

I actually had the audio book of this, but it is not listed here on Goodreads.
I truly enjoyed this character-driven book. I think the Author Jason Deyo did a fantastic job with the story and the characters.
We follow Eric Hagen from the time he left his post in Jacksonville Fl. From the beginning throughout his travels to his mother’s home in Baltimore Maryland. He traveled with various individuals and groups of people and ended up finding a family he could call his own. Naomi, Samantha a 13 yr old girl & Drew a young boy. They had found a safe haven here and there an one where there was an incident with one of the other scavenging teams, due to a man’s son being disruptive in class, where as he was removed and put to work. Doing crappy jobs to burn off his extra energy, knowing in time he would return back to class and behave much better. Our little group of four had decided prior to the confrontation to head out again to the north had Eric’s family home to check on his parents.
Sometimes it is the hidden dangers within a small group that is the deadliest because when they surface it catches you off guard.
This was a long book with well placed twist and turns, it could have even been broken down into three separate books.
The man that narrated this book did a wonderful job. Jason Deyo used creative problem-solving skills with several real life problems that may occur, I thought it was brilliant to take the trouble maker out of school and putting him to work doing crappy jobs to help him realize that in class was where he wanted to be. That was just one example.

I love me it, I hated it

It was an amazing story from start to finish except for one Pain in the ass character who shall remain unnamed in my opinion this character should have stepped on a rusty nail halfway through and died from complications to tetanus 3/4 of the way through 😞😞

Superb audio QUALITY!

Superb audio quality and very entertaining to listen because the story-line is unique and the plots are very hard to predict. Imagine in an instant your surroundings/world will transfer into a chaotic full of freaking zombies and the more good thing about audibles are you just lie in the bed and listen to it. Kudos Jason!

Oh man! I never thought that I will enjoy listening to an audible book. The story was so damn good and the plots are amazing as well. Highly recommended! Kudos to the author.

Fantastic audible book to have simply because of its unique story-line that can surely make you want to listen to it more. I literally finish listening to it in a day. Well done!

That was some crazy apocalypse zombie story! Audio is very clear and the narrator is very good. Keep it up!
