Throw back to the good ol days in a small town

There’s something about growing up in a small country town that one never forgets.
We grow older, life takes us to many places and it seems we can never get back to that feeling we had as a child before life taught us how to be adults.

Reading this book did just that. It took me back to that nondescript little town I grew up in. I have fond memories of chasing frogs, taking snakes from the yards and homes of the neighbors down to the river banks for a dollar, catching varmint and filling my pockets with grasshoppers much to the vexation of my mother on laundry day.

Alan does a superb job pulling on your heartstrings as you travel with him through his life. All those moments which help us to grow and change are captured in these tales with enough detail to engage you but not so much that it couldn’t be your own story.

Take a trip down memory lane, or if you are part of a younger time, slip into the aging minds of your parents, grandparents and all those who have come before you, and bask in the sun of a summer day by the creek. You won’t regret your time spent visiting Willow Creek. But you may find yourself longing for those long past days once again when it’s through.

The Audible narrator sounds much like Casey Kasem and adds to the nostalgic ambiance. I plan on keeping this Audible book for years to come when I want to pop back into Willow Creek for a nice afternoon with Alan and his friends.

Whole lot of great nostalgia

While I wasn't crazy about the narrator, the stories were well worth it.
I especially loved the longevity of the book. From boyhood to adult. I loved hearing about changing times.

Childhood

It’s just so wonderful to hear my father and I’s childhood in a story. I miss Waldwick (Willow Creek) so much.
