Publisher's Summary

In the newest Night Rebel novel, set in New York Times best-selling author Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress world, beautiful, daring vampire Veritas risks all to protect Ian....

Some promises are meant to be broken....

Veritas spent most of her life as a vampire Law Guardian. Now, she’s about to break every rule by secretly hunting down the dark souls that were freed in order to save Ian. But the risks are high. For if she gets caught, she could lose her job. And catching the sinister creatures might cost Veritas her own life.

Some vows are forever....

Ian’s memories might be fragmented, but this master vampire isn’t about to be left behind by the woman who entranced him, bound herself to him, and then disappeared. So what if demons, other Law Guardians, and dangerous, otherworldly forces stand against them? Come hell or high water, Ian intends to remind Veritas of the burning passion between them, because she is the only person seared on his mind - and his soul....

Long live Ian and Veritas!!!

Like most people I feel like I have been waiting for this book forever. Shades of Wicked is one my favorite books and it set a high bar for me. I am thrilled to say at this book was just as good as I hoped. Ian and Veritas are my favorite couple from the Night huntress series. Their chemistry together is explosive and their personalities mesh so well together that half the time they make me want to laugh or cry. I enjoyed seeing all of the old characters from the previous books as well as meeting a lot of beer a I enjoyed seeing all of the old characters from the previous books as well as meeting a lot of there a new interesting new interesting ones. and with the way this book ended I’m already counting down the days till the release of the next one.

As always Tavia Gilbert did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life with her narration. This book is worth a credit to anyone looking for excitement, love, and laughs.

Very annoying

I hated the story. I hated the characters. I hated the narration (too many thick accents). It wasn't fun, unlike prior books in the series. And it was hard to follow with too many new or previously infrequent characters, as well as a murky convoluted plot that really made no sense since there were too many contrived complications.

Veritas was annoying

Normally I love all of the characters in this series but Veritas was hard to listen to this time. She was constantly whining or hysterical about something making the book drag.

Disappointing

This book is just exhausting to listen to. Hard to tell if it's the story line or the narration, but I could only listen to it for short time periods. Even had to skip to the end after so much angst and pseudo suspense. Won't be purchasing the 3rd book.

Disappointed for first time

I absolutely love Jeaniene Frost and her Night Hundreds series and the spin-off series. I eagerly awaited the first book in this Ian spin-off and was well pleased with it except for narrator Tavia Gilbert. Once again Ms. Gilbert has ruined it for me. She could not stay in character with Veritas, making the narration irritating thus taking away from the story. Also, I had a hard time focusing on this story line. It did not flow easily like all the others. I am excited that there will be a third book but if Ms. Gilbert is narrating, I'll have to buy the Kindle version or print version. Sadly her voice has become irritating to me. All in all it was a good read, not a fabulous read, just a good read.

Loved the book

Could have done without the breathy, high pitch shriek of the narrator’s voice every time Veritas got panicked, which, let’s face it, happened a lot. It was really irritating, and I had to turn the volume down until I could barely hear it.

Still, the book was everything I’ve wanted from Frost since I met Ian in the Cat and Bones books. The depth of openness, passion, and caring between Veritas and Ian was absolutely perfect. There were plenty of thrills and scares and adventure, but there was also room for dates and sharing and closeness.

Veritas' story, needs more Ian to keep me engaged

Seemed more and more fantastical. The book had a lot of Veritas' backstory and was less about their relationship. I was bored and wanted more of Ian's behavior and less of Veritas angst.

It Bit me... 3.5 Stars

I am very unsure of how to put into words my feelings on this book.....
I have loved all of J. Frost’s books thus far.
I had been so excited for this next book in this series to come out for the last year and half. Book1 was amazing!♥️
So I don’t know if some of my disappointment in this book is due to my high anticipation or high expectations of J.F.’s work, but this book felt like I was bit in the butt.
It did not enthrall me enough that I felt like I had to know what was going to happen next. There was a lot of back story put into it, and a lot of building for the next story to come. It also felt a little repetitious of past books storylines she’s done.
My hope is that this was just a necessary part of the storyline to come that the next book will totally make
Up for it.🤞🤞🤞
Tavia Gilbert- also took a bite out of her performance in this book by having a different way of speaking for Veritas for a good portion of the story, that had not been her normal accent in past books. She did seem to have find it again towards the last part of the story.

Wow!

Just when I thought book 2 couldn't possibly be better than 1, just when I thought Veritas couldn't get more badass, just when I thought I couldn't love Ian's character more and couldn't get enough of his witty one liners, Jeaniene Frost knocked it out of the park again with this one. She truly has a beautiful mind. There were so many 'I didn't see that coming' moments and though books with more than 2 parts get on my nerves, I am truly and eagerly looking forward to book 3. Hoping it won't take as long as book 2 to be ready though. A big thank you to Jeaniene and Tavia for making my week with this audio book, loved every bit and will most definitely be listening to it over and over again.

Didnt want this book to end!

I loved the story, the twists and turns, and the introduction of new creatures.
Travis Gilbert was as usual a brilliant narrator.
Dont want to include spoilers so I'll just say how great this book was, the only downside was it ended, and I wanted more!
Hopefully there will be more books in the Night Rebel series.

Oh my --- What?!

This was brilliant! There is definitely a theme of coming to terms with your own fear and darker self in the entire night huntress world but this is the most extreme. I'd say it's also the best depiction of honest acceptance by either others or ones self. Also ..... Total unexpected twist and cliffhanger ending!!

Fantastic book 2 in Ian’s Series

I can’t say much because I don’t want to give any spoilers. Book 2 in Ian’s long anticipated series is as good as if not better than book 1. This book has heart, laughter, adventure and suspense. Leaving you on the edge of your seat wondering how the hell will they get out of this. And also a few surprises thrown in. I love this book it’s Author and Narrator. Jeaniene Frost and Tavia Gilbert are perfect together for a fun exciting listening experience. Now the year long wait for book 3. The wait will be so worth it. Until then I have her Vlad and Cat and Bones series to re- listen to. She is one of the few Authors I listen to again and again, each time being as much fun as the first time.
