Publisher's Summary

This fairy tale doesn't end with a kiss....

A spellbinding Immortals After Dark tale from number-one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole!

The terrifying king of hell...

As a boy, Abyssian "Sian" Infernas had his heart shattered by a treacherous fey beauty who died before he could exact vengeance. Millennia later, a curse has transformed him into a demonic monster - just as she's been reincarnated. Sian captures the delicate but bold female, forcing her back to hell.

Meets his match.

Princess Calliope "Lila" Barbot's people have hated and feared Abyssian and his alliance of monsters for eons. When the beastly demon imprisons her in his mystical castle, vowing revenge for betrayals she can't remember, Lila makes her own vow: to bring down the wicked beast for good.

Can two adversaries share one happily ever after?

As Calliope turns hell inside out, the all-powerful Sian finds himself defenseless against his feelings for her. In turn Lila reluctantly responds to the beast's cleverness and gruff vulnerability. But when truths from a far distant past are revealed, can their tenuous bond withstand ages of deceit, a curse, and a looming supernatural war?

A DELICOUSLY WICKED FAIRYTALE

How does Kresley Cole do it?... time after time she's delivered riveting listens and, even though we are now at book 17, they've never ever been boring, dull or predictable because her paranormal world-building skills are just amazing. And, every time I finish the latest instalment about the mythical characters of The Lore, I'm immediately craving the next one - and so on.. because she has never disappointed me, has never failed to entertain me and has always managed to spin a fresh new IAD story.

In this book Nix the Ever-Knowing is up to her usual tricks by orchestrating things so a banished virgin Fey Princess is tossed into Hell as the reincarnated mate of the King of Pandemonia. The chemistry between Sian and Lila was off the charts, the sexual tension was palpable, the passion was hot and the quick witted banter between them was fun. Loveable characters get tangled up in the wickedly clever dual POV storyline that'll amaze and entertain. Robert Petkoff's narration was flawless as he brought everything to life.. and he IS the voice of The Lore.

Worth a credit? Yes.. and I'll happily continue to buy books from this very talented Author.

Beauty and the Beast.

What a great story. I have always been a fan of the beauty and the beast story and this is a great twist added to one of my favorite series. I couldn't wait to listen to it and it paid off. I hope Kresley Cole never stops writing this series. I laughed so hard when Lila pulled here first trick on Sian. I loved this world before when Lanthe and Thronos were stuck in it and now I love it even more. There wasn't a lot of action in this book, but it has a lot of mischief and that really brought the story to life. And as usual Robert Petkoff is awesome.

The weakest addition to series

Classic use of the distrust/miscommunication device, ad nauseum. Not nearly as much action adventure as in previous releases in series. For me, the action was sorely missed. Got tired of the endless sex scenes that didn’t move the story forward. Liked the characters though. And, of course, as always the narrator Robert Petkoff was amazing.

Not a great addition to the series, disappointing

I want to say how much I love this series and this author and it pains me to tell you how much I disliked this book.
The story arc is absolutely stalled at this point and while we can anticipate that Nix’s story is likely the culmination, these last few have not moved things forward.

In this story , filled with characters I’d not really heard of, save the sorceri at the beginning, and Nix, of course, we have a loose approximation of “Beauty and the Beast” and for that, I was pleased. Beyond that, we literally get pages and pages and PAGES of the two of them snarking at one another then having sex.

I was totally bored.

While I loved the narration and thought it was a decent way to enjoy this, I found myself wishing for the book so I could skim.

The narrator is excellent and the 2.5 stars I give this really go to him, because the story itself was not that enjoyable.

This series just keeps getting better!

great narrator, excellent story! The books in the immortals after dark series are great as stand alone novels and as part of the series. unlike many other series this long, the plots stay engaging & the stories are just as great (if not better) than the first books in the series.

I LOVED IT SO MUCH I AM GOING TO REREAD THE SERIES

Would you listen to Wicked Abyss again? Why?

Yes I would listen again. Kresley Cole is my go to author. She is the one who never let's me down. I am in love with the IAD series. My only disappointment was with Lothaire's mate. I wish Lothaire's mate was more like Lila.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wicked Abyss?

I would say when Rune told Sian that their children could play together. And then Sian realized that Lila didn't care what their children would be, only that she wanted to have babies with him. I loved that. Lila loved the beast.

Which scene was your favorite?

There were so many. But if I had to choose just one it would be when Sian was defending himself without hurting any of the fey. Even though he was being shot with arrows and consistently harmed. He made a vow to Lila and wouldn't break it. Then Lila realizes what is happening and screams for him to fight back.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. Again I would go back to the reason why I would listen to this again. Lila loved Sian for who he is...nothing else. Pure unconditional love.

Any additional comments?

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE. IN THE MEAN TIME I WILL BE BUYING THE AUDIBLE VERSION OF ALL THE OTHER BOOKS THAT I HAVE READ & WILL BEGIN LISTENING FOR MY REREAD OF THE SERIES.

Amazing!!!!

I couldn't stop listening! There were times when I thought "Another play on beauty and the beast" but I should've known better and trusted the author. Her characters are amazing and the narrator breathes life and pulls you in so that you lose yourself in the rich world created but Ms Cole. I can't wait for her next novel.

Devilish Devil

Sexy influenced Beauty & the Beast, with a bit of Cinderella, Snow White & the 7 Dwarves, Rumpelstiltskin etc thrown in.
It has all the elements you expect from the IAD series. 2 opposing creatures who are mates with chemistry, conflict from the past still effecting today & a manipulating Nyx in her crazy way. Loved the overall story but a few flaws. Calliope is the reincarnated mate of Abyssian who betrayed him. I don't understand how he didn't know who she really was a princess in this incarnate as well... I wish they had explored more the reincarnation element instead of just referring to it.
It also rushed the ending. I felt Calliope forgave Abyssian to quickly at the end, she should have punished him just a little more.
Love this series can't wait for the next instalment.

Heart pounding

Betrayal, revenge. Paybacks, hot sizzling sex scenes and haunting hero and sassy desperate heroine are just some of the ingredients of this book. It has everything that what you want in a fantastic story. The narrative is excellent as always Robert Petkoff is magnificent in his narrative, i have laughed out loud and cried while listening to Wicked Abyss. I highly recommend to everyone, you won't be disappointed.
