Love this series

This is probably my favorit one in the Enhanced series, now the team are starting to really get together and Talons and Finns relationship has grown. I really love all the charachters in this book, it has a good phasing and Nick J Russo only makes it so much better! Still amaze me how he can capture all the voices and dialects! Listening to the first book is a must in this series, its where it all begin and you shouldnt skipp it! Really recommend this book!

Even better than book 1!

The Enhanced series keeps kicking it up a notch and is definitely getting better with each installment, but man, oh, man, do I love Nick J. Russo narrating these.

Told again from a dual POV, in Who We Truly Are the action is pretty non-stop, with lots of sexy times in between the next crisis that Talon or Finn face.

This time around it's all about trying to find out what's happening to the missing enhanced teens and Finn goes undercover, much to Talon's disapproval. Finn, predictably, keeps getting hurt (I just wish some of Talon's powers could somehow transfer to Finn...) but it's because he keeps doing what is right, but unfortunately it also means Talon and the team keep having to save him. Meanwhile, Talon is going through his own life-altering changes, which could ultimately mean trouble for the team.

I love how this series is progressing, but mostly I love how Nick J. Russo brings these characters to life. His character voices are great and consistent, his tone and pitch are good, and his pacing is terrific.

Look no further for a sexy as hell, good time, entertaining, paranormal romance with plenty of action and awesome narration.

A gripping story

Our actions will always define who we truly are...
The second book in the Enhanced series follows up where the first one finished. Talon and Finn are still trying to figure their relationship while working to make their team a success. When the turn of events makes it necessary for Finn to go undercover, it does not go well with Talon, who wants to keep Finn out of danger, which of course makes Finn angry because he feels demeaned. This summarizes Finn and Talon relationship. Talon needs to keep Finn safe, who in turn feels the need to prove himself. Likewise, Talon feels Finn would be safer without him, and that makes Finn question if Talon really cares about him. It seems so difficult to reach an agreement between these two stubborn characters!
As for the mystery, it is interesting and gripping, The pace is fast, and the intrigue gains momentum with every page. Nick J. Russo manages the narration perfectly, being able to masterfully balance feelings and actions. With a wide range of emotions on display, his voice becomes the ideal means to navigate a roller-coaster of events that move from grief-shaken teenagers to cold-blooded murderers with a surprising ease. It is an excellent performance, which makes this audio a fully enjoyable experience

I don't want this to end

Great follow up to the first book. I love Nick J Russo, his distinction of characters makes anything he reads come alive. He not only creates unique voices but uses the emotions to show the depth of feelings. He doesn't read the book but acts the characters. Its like a one man Broadway show.
I wasn't so sure I would like this genre when I read/listen to the first book but I'm glad I did. I fell in love with the characters and was sad when it end. I bought this book last night and listened in one sitting. I'm about to start it again cause I kept dozing off. I highly recommend this book because it's so GOOD. Please let there be more. There are so many secondary characters that deserve their own follow up stories.

Victoria Sue is a great story teller and she is one of the authors I check at the least weekly to see if her other books have come out on audible. So buy the first one if you havent and immediately move on to this one. You should not read this one without reading the first one. You would lose the understanding of the depth of love, loyalty and plot line.

Awesome series

This book continues Talon and Finn’s story from Five Minutes Longer. I enjoyed watching Finn grow more confident and sure of himself. There are some interesting hints for the next book. As always, Nick Russo does an amazing job with the narration giving each character a clearly recognizable voice.

Great Series - NJR is fantastic!

Who We Truly Are is the second book in the Enhanced series by Victoria Sue and this story just gets better and better. I love the humor and fun in these books, and the hot and sexy dynamic between Finn and Talon is just icing on the cake. Seriously, if you’re looking for a great paranormal romance the Enhanced series is just what you need. Just make sure you read Five Minutes Longer first before jumping into this book. (In fact this review has some spoilers from the first book - so be warned.)

I really enjoy the fresh and creative spin Victoria Sue puts on this genre. It’s a little bit dystopian but still completely relatable to the world we live in today. She explores some interesting facets of what the introduction of enhanced humans would do to our society. Most disturbing are the wide variety of ways families deal with having an enhanced child and the complications which come along with it. Likewise, the government is struggling to keep up with changes that need to be made to provide for enhanced beings.

Talon and Finn make an interesting duo as a team comprised of an enhanced and regular human as the FBI explores how a Human Enhanced Rescue Organization (H.E.R.O.) can work in this new world. I love the pairing of sweet, inexperienced Finn with Talon as the totally hot and sexy, slightly jaded, older agent. The challenges this dynamic creates are a carry-over from the first book and continue to test their relationship.

Talon has some tough times in Who We Truly Are. Between coming to grips with his deepening affection for Finn, his mother’s unwelcome reappearance in his life, and the changes going on with his abilities, Talon’s issues provide some interesting ways Victoria Sue could take this series, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

Finn is just beginning to gain some confidence as an agent and wants to show he can do the job. Because he is still learning he makes some pretty bad mistakes, but he perseveres and suffers everything that goes along with having to own up to them. His insecurities come out in his romantic relationship with Talon too; but it’s okay because they work it all out in the sexiest way possible *wink*.

This is the perfect series for Nick J. Russo’s talented narration. He’s great at infusing a little humor in just the right places and his subtle brand of sexy snark lights me up just right. There are some intense scenes in Who We Truly Are and Russo brings the emotion, but keeps it real.

Victoria Sue has some wonderful tidbits about this series on her website, as well as a few scenes that didn’t make it into the books. So, if you’re a fan I encourage you to check it out. There are several ways the next book could go, but it’s safe to say it will be centered around Gael (yay)... and his new human partner. Whatever challenges the H.E.R.O.s face, it’s sure to be a seriously good time, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

It just gets better and better!!

What can I say but that I love this book and the audio just makes an already great story even better! I just love Nick J Russo narration! This is a continuation of Finn and Talon story. I just love how through the audiobook Nick brings the emotions to each of the characters. I love that when I hear certain voices I know exactly who it is. Nick does amazing job yet again!

This series just keeps getting better

I really wish that book three was out already. I’d restate everything I already said about the first book. But what I failed to say then is that both Victoria Sue & Nick J Russo are on my favorites list. I’ve listened to all of Sue’s audios & have purchased many of Russo’s. Happy listening!!

wanted to punch Talon so bad!

Independent reviewer for Divine Magazine, I was gifted the AUDIO copy of this book.

This is book two in the Enhanced Series, and you really SHOULD read or listen to book one, Five Minutes Longer, before you start this one. It's a continuation of Talon and Finn's tale, and not all is repeated here.

Talon and Finn are partners in all ways, it's just not common knowledge. When Finn is sent undercover to try to locate the missing Enhanced children, Talon has to dig deep within himself to let Finn do his job, and then for Talon to do his, when Finn turns up missing too.

For most of this book, I wanted to punch Talon in the face so bloody hard!! He's such an idiot when it comes to Finn doing his job, he really is! I get he cares for Finn, very much so, but Finn came into Talon's world as his WORK partner, and that has to be front and centre. But no, Talon's reaction to Finn going undercover is to bury his head in the sand, and ignore Finn. So much so, Finn thinks to leave Florida and find himself some who really appreciates him.

But in Talon's defense, he is dealing with his ever increasing powers, taking on the powers of the other team members, and it does take its toll on him.

I found this one a little more explicit than book one, as Talon and Finn's physical relationship seems to be the outlet for their work situations frustration, for BOTH of them. No complaining, min, no ma'am not at all! Even though I wanted to punch Talon, he does somewhat redeem himself when they get home!

The missing children has *some* conclusion, but there are still some unanswered questions. We meet some new people, both Enhanced and regular.

When Talon finally gets his head out his ass, and *literally* explodes, it's Finn that brings him back from the brink. Finn's words said to him, that words Talon longed to hear, and indeed say, manage to clear his mind and focus in time to save them both.

Nick J Russo again narrates. I love his narration again. His voices are clear, and consistent across both books, and I have no trouble following multi person conversations. His reading voice is deep and even, making it such an easy listen!

Russo gets all of Finn's emotions when Talon almost blanks him, and I felt for Finn, I really did. Listening to a book is such a different experience to reading, and the narrator makes listening to this book such a pleasure.

Of course, a narrator can ONLY reads the words he's given and if Victoria Sue continues to write about these guys, I'm gonna be listening! (I don't like to flip between listening and reading in a series, I find I lose something if I do!)

Off to listen to book three, Beneath The Mask. I've a feeling Gael is in a world of hurt and the guys don't really know how deep it goes!

5 stars for the book
