Publisher's Summary

Sunday Times best seller.

Where is ‘happily ever after’? And what do you do once you get there?

Maybe you’ve just had a first date with ‘the one’, maybe you’ve been married for 10 years. Either way, it’s hard to know if they’re really meant to be by your side until you both wear dentures. In Where's My Happy Ending? Anna Whitehouse and Matt Farquharson, authors of the Sunday Times best seller Parenting the Sh*t Out of Life, set out to discover what it takes to make it to forever, by asking our greatest questions about love.

They ask a former sex worker and her ex-gigolo husband, celibate monks and free-loving hippies. They ask people who never wanted kids and people who have loads of them. They ask porn makers and feminist academics, neurologists, psychologists and romance novelists. They ask a whelk fisherman and a lollipop lady. They speak to couples, throuples and singles; gay, straight and anywhere in between.

And in asking these questions, they are forced to confront their own relationship after a decade of marriage. Through tears, laughter and one improperly discarded toenail clipping, Where’s My Happy Ending? gets answers for anyone who’s ever wondered ‘what’s next?’ Join Anna and Matt on a searingly honest, belly-laugh inducing journey through love and relationships, social media and small children, expert advice and everyday exasperation, as they navigate the muddy waters of modern romance.

Discover whether love and relationships could be simpler or more complex than we think in this study on what it really means to find and keep love today.

This audiobook includes an exclusive conversation between the authors, Anna Whitehouse and Matt Farquharson.

My favourite audio book yet

I devoured this book across 3 days. I couldn’t stop listening and have recommended my partner listen to it too. It’s the best audio book I’ve listened to yet. Honest, funny, sad - it had me crying happy and sad tears. Everytime my partner is a bit of an arse now I ask myself ‘what does love need’. My phone usage is also down 25% - less pointless Instagram scrolling, my phone goes on the bookshelf at 7pm! I’m sure this book will strengthen our relationship. Can’t wait for the next one

narrator issues

I loved the book, but Anna's reading felt like she's running and doesn't stop to catch her breath.

Loved this. A must listen

I really loved this, one of the best audio books i’ve listened too as the narration gets the humour across on what can be sometimes difficult topics. It was so open, brave, insightful and really helpful for anyone trying to understand long-term relationships. The final extra bit cracked me up to re Jason and Kylie reference! Thank you Anna and Matt for putting yourself out there for this book.

A must read

Refreshingly honest, funny, realistic and a must read. Adore these two ❤ Only downside is that I can't get Avril Lavignes 'My Happy Ending' out of my head now 😂

I would highly recommend their first book 'Parenting the sh*t out of life' if you enjoy this one.

A very funny listen with some pretty serious topics

As a single man in his 30s, that’s spent at least the last 15 years asking the question, this book explores different facets of what would make up that happy ending from many different perspectives. The style of writing (and obviously reading) is incredible and unlike anything I’ve listened to before.

I thought the takeaways might be quite limited for a single man, but there were definitely a few things that I’ll be mindful of in future relationships.

Overall, it’s clever and insightful and will be recommended to many a friend in an LTR or marriage.

Pleasant enough but very solipsitic

Reads like a long personal blog post. Entertaining enough but lacks depth. And is slightly lesss than the sum of it's parts.

one reviewer below said they felt they could have written this themselves... I agree. It's pleasant enough and amusing to read, but it has no wider application than their own family.

I read a lot of psychology, business and self improvement books - this adds nothing to the canon, retreads a lot of the science and findings of other writers.

But if you enjoy their style they're pleasant company for the duration of the book. if you want to hear more about their parents, siblings and friends - this is the book for you. If you want actual actionable thoughts, this probably isn't for you.

Dull, sardonic and lacking insight

Learned nothing from this book. Couldn't sympathise with the writers because they seem inauthentic and refer everything to popular culture. Weary, sardonic and middle of the road English lifestyle mag material.

Very relatable. Good to hear both perspectives

Very relatable. Good to hear both perspectives and analysis of each others' point of view
