Publisher's summary

She was nothing more than retaliation against his enemies, until she became the woman he could not live without.

Set on revenge, Highland warrior Graham MacLeod abducts Isobel Campbell, never anticipating his enemy's daughter would awaken an irresistible hunger in him. But when his beautiful, headstrong captive challenges his will and proves her courage and honor by willingly risking her life for his, he cannot deny the dangerous passion she stirs in him. Suddenly, his agreement to deliver Isobel to the king who wishes to use her holds little appeal. Yet, with a battle for the Scottish throne brewing, he knows the king will not relinquish the pilfered prize. To everyone else, Isobel is a pawn to be manipulated, but the more time Graham spends with her, the less he sees her as an adversary and the more she becomes the forbidden temptation he must resist.

Isobel Campbell is a wanted woman, but not for who she is, only as the heiress of a castle that holds the key to power over the Scottish isles. And when she is kidnapped by her family's bitter enemy, all she wants is to return to the father she idolizes. But she soon discovers that those she considers her protectors may in fact be her biggest threats, and the brave, fierce warrior she fears may actually be the one person she can rely on.

A chasm of distrust and an undeniable yearning flare between Isobel and Graham, along with the promise of unexpected love. However, in order to triumph, they must find a way to vanquish their doubts and build an alliance that can withstand the devastation of war and a king determined to sacrifice anything - and anyone - to keep his throne.

EXCELLENT!

Fabulous story, stellar performance!
This pair delivers once more the kind of medieval romance that I hope each book will be but rarely is.

Read / listen to them all, in order.

Great!

This book... even better. I wanted to see how Graham was going to handle his disappointments with Bridgette/Lachlan's relationship, his disability and insecurities. Now you know he is going to meet someone (Isobel), and Isobel's family is much to be desired, and then there is action along the way. This story is full and great.

A wonderfully touching story.

Tim Campbell has one of those voices just made for narrating. He did not disappoint with this book. I liked everything about this story. Thank you Julie Johnstone.

Dissappointing Heroine

What did you like best about When a Highlander Loses His Heart? What did you like least?

I listened to Book 1 and 2 of this series in a matter of days. I am in love with all the characters and the enthralling plot. I couldn't wait to learn of Graham's romantic fate. I'm sorry to say though, his love interest is not very interesting. She's actually pretty dumb. As the reader, I am having a difficult time trusting her because of her poor actions and whining. After being in love with Bridget, a strong loveable character, how can he be attracted to this woman?

An example of Isobel's stupidity****SPOILER ALERT****: She tries running from Graham (again), even with the enemy close behind. Then she gets captured and is surprised. Duh! Then she stabs Graham and then says, "OH You're bleeding!" Again, DUH. I understand that she has had a sheltered life, living in the convent, but still her naivety was too much. Her character is not very focused. One minute she is meek, the next overly stubborn and for really no apparent reason. Her stubbornness leads her to make irrational decisions, which puts the characters THAT I LOVE in danger.

Because I love this series I am determined to finish this book to see what happens to the characters. I really hope Cameron has better luck in the next book. The narrator's performance made this book somewhat tolerable.

Would you be willing to try another book from Julie Johnstone? Why or why not?

Only because book 1 and 2 were so well done, I will try another book; however, if it fails me like this one did I probably won't pick up another by Johnstone.

Which scene was your favorite?

I haven't come across a good scene yet.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Absolutely not.

Annoying Hero

Book one of this series was much better. Read it instead. After several hours of listening to the hero whine, I had had it with him. I finished the book because I always finish and I like some of the other characters in this series but this was just annoying.

Loved every minute of it

Another brilliant story of this series. This is the 2nd time I am listening to this series and I am enjoying it just as much as the first time, if not more. Tom Campbell's narrating is brilliant. Now on to the next one.

So much love for highlander vows entangled hearts

I have so much love for this series. I think it is some of Julie's best work.

I love that each brother and I guess pivotal member of the clan gets there own story.

I loved listening to Graeme and Isobel's story.

Tim Campbell is the perfect narrator and I cannot praise him enough.

Highly recommend this series.
