Publisher's Summary

As a medical examiner, Serena Hopkins is used to dealing with death. But that doesn't make it any easier when she's called to the eerie scene of a murder - especially when Serena realizes that she knows the victim. Nearly as unnerving is the presence of FBI agent Dominic Allen, her childhood crush. As evidence mounts and points to a serial killer with disturbingly familiar methods, Serena and Dominic must work to find a pattern and stop the killings before the murderer strikes again. And when Serena's own life is at stake, she must decide if the secret she has been keeping has put her next on the killer's hit list. Can she trust Dominic with the truth before it's too late?

Story very good but.....

The continued story in this series was very good. Suspenseful and fast paced. My problem is with the narration. I liked the narrator's enthusiasm but she was awful with additional voices. Part of the problem comes from the first book in the series. That narrator gave each character a personality that enhanced the story. This narration discarded those personalities and constantly pulled me out of the excitement of the story. Many of the voices were so close it was hard to distinguish who was talking. I hope the new narrator in book three gives the characters back their more believable personalities.

Worse narration ever

I simply can not listen to this another minute. Made to chapter 6. This is by far the worse narration I have ever experienced and I have listened to hundred of books. It is almost laughable and embarrassing to listen to. I can't believe this person was hired and published as a narrator. She can't change genders, there are pauses that I am unsure what the purpose was intended for.

I do want to read the series so I will be returning this and will purchase an e-reader edition.

Don't waste your money on the audible edition.

Narrator got in the way

I've enjoyed this author up until now, and might get this book to read instead. I really can't finish the audio version with this narrator.

Story great...reading not so good

As always Lynette Eason keeps you on the edge of your seat!! Even though Mia Eason does a terrible job on men’s voices...the story held my interest and keep
me going! Not a book I could lesson to at night but knowing Lynette Eason, I knew in the end her main characters would be ok or I could not have kept going. Trusting the author is important to me!

Buy this one in print instead!

I really enjoy Lynette Eason as a writer and liked the first book in the series, so I bought this without reading the reviews. Such a mistake! The narration is awful. I have nearly stopped listening multiple times, but the third book has a different narrator, so I'm pushing through. The narrator makes every female character sound whiny and obnoxious and every male character sound stupid. So unfortunate.

Horrible. Reader.

Book was ok. The narrator sounded like she. Had. Periods in. Weird places. And made a lot. Of characters sound. Like idiots. Almost didn't finish it because it was so annoying, but I paid for the book, so...

Great Suspense Novel

The story was itself was good. Suspense and drama. However the Performance was not good at all. It would have been nice to have the same Performer for each novel in this series. Someone better than the first two.

Great story. Really, really bad narration

This is the worst narration ever. I cannot believe Ms. Eason and the producer didn't preview this work before releasing it. The first book was well done, therefore I didn't bother to check it out before purchasing. Regret that.

Get a new narrator please!

The story was very good, a nice compliment to the first in the series and definitely leaves me wanting to read the third book, but the narrator drove me nuts throughout the book. Her voices were either too similar or too annoying, and I even heard a lisp early in the book, though it somehow seemed to go away after a while...weird. I sure am hoping there’s a different narrator for book three, just as the first one was different.

Hard to listen to

It was a good thing this narrator didn’t read for all three books. Her voice was fine for the main characters but it was super annoying when she tried to give other characters a voice different from the main characters. Honestly, I would have rather have heard them sound the same then the accents she gave them. I liked Hunter from the first book but this narrator made him sound stupid. I almost gave up listening but wanted to hear what happened. Thankfully, the third book has a different reader!

PURE EASON!

I just LOVE this series! And this book is pure Lynette Eason!! Lots of intense drama, nail biting suspense, good story, solid characters, romance and some humor. Loved it!

The narrator was good, but to be honest, I preferred the narrator of the first book; she was just brilliant and it would have been excellent if the same narrator did all three books in the series.

I made the mistake of downloading book 3 before book 2 and even with that mistake, the story was still good and it did not diminish at all from being one book ahead.

Good story and best reader ever.

Always love Lynette Eason books. Story so riveting I can put up with the mushy stuff. The reader doesn't just read, she acts with many convincing accents

Somebody edit out the narrator's snigger/laugh

Somebody please, please edit out the narrator's snigger/laugh. She does do the insane villains very convincingly though, with her creepy laugh and weird voices.

Disturbing & disjointing to have switch narrators

Struggled to finish due to the disturbing, sadistic bent. Only redeaming thing in the book is that the main chatacters are Christians. The storyline is DRAGGED, trudged through these first TWO. ..so DREADING that I will need to compkete all four to get resolution...hate that there is NO CLOSURE with each novel. . .I know it's s scheme to sell books but I will NEVER start another series of novels from this Author!!! There are other Authors that keep your interest...that make you want the next book, WITHOUT being so gruesome and without holding you hostage! (ie Dee Henderson & Dani Pettrey)
TO TOP OFF THE IRRITATION...in these Audible books, this series of Three EACH HAS A DIFFERENT NARRATOR...Each very different style...and without purpose...not AS one of the characters! NOT HAPPY WITH THIS SERIES...but I'm stubborn and want to finish what I've started...but I will not start another!
