Publisher's Summary

Meet Mary Ann Winkowski. She is just like you. She is a married mother of two grown daughters. She lives in a suburban town in Ohio. She goes to church every Sunday.

And she sees and talks to ghosts.

Mary Ann's grandmother noticed her unusual ability when she was practically a baby. By the time Mary Ann was four years old, she was attending neighborhood funerals to broker communication between those who had died and their living loved ones. Word of her extraordinary abilities spread, and Mary Ann was soon accompanying her grandmother on "social calls", visits where Mary Ann would confront earthbound spirits who were sharing homes with the living. This ability stayed with Mary Ann through her adolescence into adulthood, and the stay-at-home mom eventually had a side business: paranormal consultant.

In this remarkable book, Mary Ann tells her incredible story. She talks about the difference between earthbound spirits and those who have crossed over; she tells you why spirits remain on the earthly plane and how long they have before their "White Light" disappears; she shares her most intriguing and infamous tales about the spirits she has encountered. And she divulges how to determine whether your house or your family is haunted - and what to do if there is a ghost around you.

Full of no-nonsense advice, amazing anecdotes, and practical tips for navigating a paranormal phenomenon that is at once unbelievable and awe-inspiring, When Ghosts Speak is a must-listen for any person who has ever heard something go bump in the night.

When Ghosts Speak

A wonderful guide to earthbound spirits. The book is well written and easy to listen to with no “hocus locus” like some of the other books I have read. Mary Ann seem like a down to earth person. Hopefully one day I will get to meet her in person.

Love the subject, not the narrator

The material is interesting. I learned a few things. At least now, if I miss my white light I know where to go to hitch a ride on someone else's. : )

Unfortunately this is one of the instances where an author shouldn't narrate their own work. While I am sure the author is an accomplished speaker, audio-books are a different beast. They can make or break a book.

Useful information

The author dimystifies ghosts as human personalities that are stuck here for whatever reason. Just because they died they did not receive a higher knowledge and are still disconected from the higher source. Provided cleansing techniques alone are worth purchasing this book. I would recommend a hard copy or an ebook for those who is sensitive to nerrations. Audio is best to connect with the author, Mary Ann Winkowski who is reading it...This book is not a captivating drama but an effective teacher.

Very interesting and informative really enjoyed how she tied in the background for the show ghost whisper and the experiences that were uncounted while filming the show.

Interesting material, abysmal narration

I genuinely want to finish this book because I'm curious about the author's experiences but HOLY COW she's painful to listen to. I appreciate when authors want to narrate their own material because you can sometimes get a better feel for the true sense of the writing and how it's meant to be read. But the author's Midwestern accent, dull intonation, and grating enunciation make her interesting material sound terribly boring. I had to return it.

Fascinating!

This was a fascinating listen! Mary Ann shares her experiences in a down to earth way and her personality really shines through. I learned a lot about the earthbound spirits and the death experience. The best thing about this book is that it's not sensationalism. Even though the subject matter is contact with "dead" people, I could listen to this at night, alone in the dark, without getting freaked out. It's warm and informative, not scary.

The best I've ever read/listened to in my life

Normally, I get a feeling of fear when listening to audiobooks when trying to understand ghosts. My brother took his life and I want to know so badly what he may experience. And what other family members have experienced after passing. I've often thought about my own death. Especially "What if I don't want to go? What if I want to stay with my kids?" This book matter of factly explains absolutely everything. She is SO calm and truthful. I've never come across someone that I never doubt and who does such a wonderful job. Definite MUST for anyone with questions about after death.
