Publisher's Summary

"When Ashes Fall is a tautly written, complex, and emotionally-charged love story that takes the reader on an unforgettable, unexpected, and deeply moving journey.” (USA Today)

It’s been said that you can’t love two men at the same time. You can’t split your heart, soul, and body in half. But I’m here to tell you, you can.

Dylan Cole is like ice, sharp and unpredictable, the thunder inside a tumultuous storm. Smith Reid is warmth, soft and gentle, perfect like a sunny day. Both are mine. But I can have only one.

There are two sides to this tale. I'm here to tell you mine. If you think this story is about a cheater, you couldn’t be more wrong.

Blown Away

Wow, I am still reeling from this one! I am completely wrecked!!! This story will touch every piece of your heart and soul. If you don’t want to ugly cry in public I recommend staying at home for this one… I was hooked from the very beginning, every time I thought I knew what was going on there was something that made me think otherwise and I love when an author can do that to me. I am pretty sure I am obsessed with Dylan btw lol so when Smith came into the picture I just wanted to know what the heck!! LOL but I was patient and it was worth the wait!! This story has so much passion it freaking hurts!!
This is a 10 star listen! Most definitely worth the credit! The narration is 100% perfect! Wouldn’t change a thing.

✫✫ 5 Stars ✫✫

This is a great book! It's written in Past & Present with 3 POV's but is not confusing at all!
It's very emotional and it will keep you guessing until the end even when you know what is happening the entire time.
Alix was a good character to love because you really get to see 2 different sides of her and the entire time you just want her to be happy. Dylan is about 99% perfect and loves Alix with everything he has so you'll find yourself loving him too but even more, you'll love the way they love each other. Then comes Smith who has lots of demons but he is such a great guy that you will also want him to be happy. There is no cheating so don't worry, it's not like that.. you'll just have to read to understand.
I loved that I spent this entire book falling in love with all of the characters and I found myself getting mad at life for their circumstances. I know a lot of people who will be crying doing this one, I didn't but that's not because it's not sad it's just that I really am not a crier.

The narration is EXCEPTIONAL! Ava, Teddy & Aiden all are incredible narrators and they really brought these characters to life.

This is one you don’t want to miss!!!!

Oh my word! This book BLEW ME AWAY!! Absolutely Beautiful.
Emotional, raw, heartbreaking and one hundred percent perfection!!!
I went into this story blindly and it was definitely the way to go. This is not a story about cheating. This is a story about love.
Marni Mann has outdone herself with this book. She truly wrote a unique story that will pull at your heartstrings and capture every emotion down to your soul.
I’ve never listened to an audiobook that brought me to tears but the performance Ava Erickson, Teddy Hamilton and Aiden Snow gave, had me in big, fat, ugly tears.
I had been craving a book that would give me originality and that wow factor and this was without a doubt, that book!!!
This is about moments. How one moment can change your entire life. How one moment can be a step in the right direction. How one moment can feel like a second chance. Overcoming and learning to live through the moments that change everything.
Everyone needs to read this book. There are so many people who can relate to Alex and what she’s going through. It’s tragic but so very real.
There just aren’t enough words to express the depth to this story and nothing I say can justify just how much of an impact this had on me.
To Author Marni Mann, keep writing your beautiful words, they have power!!!

UNFORGETTABLE.. SUCH PASSION, RAW EMOTION & LOVE

Oh Marni Marni Marni, you’ve absolutely wrecked me. This hauntingly moving book was my first from you, and now that I’ve found you, it certainly won’t be my last because I loved the precision of your words, your pace, your balance and your flow. As the story slowly unfurled I was intrigued.. then captivated.. then obsessed.. then cautiously hopeful.. then confused.. then moved.. then heartbroken.. and finally you made the sun come out again for the heroine and for me. I initially bought your book because of Aiden, Ava and Teddy.. three trusted and well-loved voices who narrated your touching past and present chapters so wonderfully well and together they made your very emotional and moving story unforgettable.

Worth a credit? There are two love stories here.. but no cheating. There is pain.. but there is pleasure too. There are dark days.. but there will be light at the end of the tunnel. There is unconditional love shining throughout this book.. but there is confusion and deep sadness too. I wanted to hope.. but feared too. It’s not your typical Contemporary Romance.. but it is a beautiful love story. And, IMO, yes it’s absolutely creditworthy.

WOW!

I read When Ashes Fall by Marni Mann a few weeks ago, and it really affected me in so many ways. Right after reading it, there was so much I wanted to talk about, and I was such an emotional wreck that I held off my review until some of my thoughts and feelings faded so I wouldn’t inadvertently give something away in my excitement.

“If you think this story is about a cheater, you couldn’t be more wrong.”

Marni Mann’s writing of When Ashes Fall was unlike anything I have read in the past, it was so well-written and I think I played exactly into the author’s hands when I reacted exactly as intended.

Why is she obsessed with sunny days? How can she be in love with two men? WHAT WAS I MISSING HERE? Aaaargh, I HAD to find out what was going on! I will admit, there was a short time during reading this that I got frustrated. But it was so worth the frustration, the story wouldn’t have worked any other way.

“I was in complete darkness. That was where I belonged. And that was where I stayed.”

You will be in the dark as well as you read this book cover-to-cover in one sitting, because you will need to know.

"There were so many questions I wanted to ask, starting with her pain, where it had come from, what it was."

I was just left holding the book with a big WOW at the end. And then I was ready to read the whole thing again.

“When ashes fall… That was the end.”

I’m not going to do my typical likes and dislikes here because I wouldn’t change a thing, and I don’t want to give anything away. I will tell you this: I had to go out the day I was reading this, so I had no choice but to buy the audiobook because I wasn’t able to stop reading for a moment. I NEVER do that, it’s either read or listen for me, but in this case, it was 50/50 and I will say, the narration was phenomenal and, if possible, added to how fabulous this book was. I loved that there were three narrators for the 3 POVs.

"No, I don't want to run. Unless it's toward you, and then the answer is yes."

When Ashes Fall was so intense and brought forth so much emotion for me that two weeks later I’m sobbing again as I write this review. Don’t let this scare you, you will get your HEA, and the journey will be SO worth it. Marni Mann has penned a unique, heartbreaking, page-turning, epic read in When Ashes Fall, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Not satisfying in all the ways

Hardly any steamy scenes, a weird, convoluted love story that is never fully explained. Was Dylan a ghost? Was she dreaming of/imagining him? And both men thought she was such an amazing girl which was hard to buy into since her character was hardly developed.

6 Stars

Six stars. Not enough words to describe. I recommend that you don't read the reviews and just go into this book blind. I did. I didn't even read the blurb, just jumped right in based off the recommendation from a friend. I'm so glad I did.

I didn't cry reading this book but it is definitely worthy of tears. It just takes a lot for a book to make me cry.

When Ashes Fall is told in first person, multiple person POV.

Overall feelings: Wow. That is all.

Audible: The narrators were fantastic. I highly recommend When Ashes Fall as an audiobook.

Left speechless...

I just… I’m lost for words here. My heart is breaking… so completely broken. Life is made up of moments… happy and beautiful moments, heartbreaking and completely unbelievable moments. That’s what When the Ashes Fall is… it’s a book full of moments. I spent half of this book wondering and kind of confused a bit but over time things in my brain started to click. I didn’t like how they were clicking. After finishing, I can tell you that I don’t like how everything clicked into space. I was surprised to feel the tears running down my face. Let’s just say it’s packed with so much emotion and heart.

The narrators show an amazing talent. We flip and flop between past and present and various character’s POV. Ava Erickson shows a talent that is… well, I really don’t know how I’m supposed to explain how wonderful she was. She really hit Boston on the dot! Rose’s voice made me want to holler out in that New England accent that you just can’t replicate. Aiden Snow and Teddy Hamilton were just as fantastic. They make you feel… like you don’t have a chance. They pull it from you.

Can I just recommend, don’t read reviews that tell you what is happening. Don’t get little tidbits. You’re mind will start to have things click into place… just like mine did. Marni Mann’s writing was perfection. This story is just want you want from a book. The plot, the characters, everything feels so real. It’s all-consuming!

Well I never saw that coming!!

This is definitely one of the best books I have read this year and I agree, it is definitely possible to love two men under these circumstances, with no cheating involved!

I'm not going to tell you anything about the story as you need to go in blind to get the full effect.

I wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but then I couldn't put it down until the end, and my poor heart!  This book has all the feels, the emotions but beautifully and sensitively portrayed.

Go read it!!

When Ashes Fall

Wow! Thank you Marni Mann for this well written, emotionally charged story. As I was reading/listening my way through the chapters, I was caught in the suspense of not knowing what was happening between Alex, Dylan and Smith but knowing that whatever it was, it was love and a deep love at that, and that there’d be heartbreak at some point along the way. And yes, it was heartbreaking. I shed a tear as the end approached and I came to understand the reasoning of her love for both men. May, Alex always have sunshine in her life and with that everyday be perfect. I loved this story, and look forward to reading more from Marni Mann.
