Publisher's summary

Six years is a long time, but memories and his harsh teachings are what remain imprinted upon Auska's soul...and, in the end, his compassion - sacrifice - for her, a girl who was nothing more than a burden thrust upon his solitary ways.

Sanctuary is safe and secure with its strict policies, offering a life anyone on the outside of its walls would kill to have; the world has only grown crueler and more dangerous through the years.

The cure was a farce, and even if it hadn't been, the technology and resources have long since been depleted in the crumbling world of man. Only one true cure remains - he had it right all along....

A real edge of your seat read

This was an amazing follow up to book one, I enjoyed it so much I read both books back to back, and wanted more! Another fast paced, action packed read that had me on the edge of the seat, it was an emotional rollercoaster. Auska's grown up and missing Archer, and stumbles into a conspiracy within Sanctuary's wall, and learns one more final lesson from Archer. More great suspense and shocking plot twist, and fantastic narration, this is a series worth following, I can't wait for the next book. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Fantastic Won’t be able to ever stop.

This book is great. Be sure to read first book What Remains before this one if you want the full effect and to know all the characters. Or it’s your life do what you will. However this if the best fiction book I have read since James Paterson. People named James must have great writing skills.

WHAT’S LEFT (BOOK TWO) - Exceptional Read!!

What’s Left (Book 2) by James Fuller is the second novel is this edgy, thrilling duet. This is definitely my favorite book by this author so far, but reading the first book is a must to fully understand the amazing characters of Archer and Auska.

James Fuller paints this post-apocalyptic world as kill or be killed where only the strong survive. In the first book, What Remains, Archer is our reluctant hero. He is as tough and hard as they come and his number one rule is self-preservation, because helping and caring for others will only get you killed. In spite of his rules, though, he becomes a begrudging mentor to the naive Auska, teaches her how to survive then helps her find the community called Sanctuary.

In What’s Left, Auska’s grown up and has adopted all that Archer taught her—to be self-reliant, tough and a loner like he was. But Auska finds out that Sanctuary is not all it appears to be and when they realize she knows their awful secret, she is ‘dealt with’ and must use every skill she has to survive and even more, to affect change.

This is an exceptionally well-written, fast-paced action read that will keep you engaged wondering how Auska will survive the Slavers, Cannibals, the infected and her own people. I strongly recommend this read.

The narrator, TJ Pohlman, was excellent and enhanced the story with his delivery and portrayal of these exceptional characters. Loved it! Well done!

WHY IS IT OVER!!!!! I love Auska!

I loved this book on so many levels! This review will have some small spoilers, I won't be able to avoid it! I was drawn into these two books after reading another one of James Fullers novels. This is not my favorite genre, but this duet made me fall in love! I was left in turmoil when book one ended with Archer's death. I was heartbroken. He was one heck of a bad a*s and I truly thought he was invincible! The way he stayed with Auska even though it was against everything he believed and then made sure Vincent and Kelly stayed with her to Sanctuary was so honorable. Auska was young, heartbroken and still a had false hope. In this book we see just how much Archer truly impacted her. She's grown up, a force to be reckoned with and is happy to be a loner like Archer was. She carries him with her, uses the skills he taught her to take anyone down that gets in her way.

I was gripped from beginning to end. The situations and events seemed impossible, you wonder how on earth she/they will find their way out. It's nonstop and oh so hard to stop reading. You will be shocked by who is good, who is bad, who can be trusted and who will be the next to turn. Their seemingly perfect compound isn't so perfect. Sinister things are happening to the people. Auska will make it her mission to set it right. I LOVE her like I loved Archer, I am going to miss this world!

I listened to the audio version and let me tell you the narrator TJ Pohlman was fantastic! His delivery of this amazing book was spot on. You felt every word. Every emotion. Each character unique and so fluid. Loved it. Do yourself a favor and read this today! Well done James!

When the sequel is even better than the original

Auska grew up in a cruel world, and now that she is fully grown, she has become as tough as her late mentor Archer once was. It wasn’t easy for her to learn that the cure was baloney, and her cynicism permeates her entire worldview. She is willing to do whatever it takes to survive, except being a slave.

She is a strong female lead who is not afraid to stare down the barrel of a gun while hurling defiant insults at the person holding it. She is fearless, a quality that serves her well in that horrible post-apocalyptic world.

When she encounters her old friends the cannibals (fine gentlemen!), she is not afraid to make an unlikely alliance with a total scumbag in order to not only survive, but turn Sanctuary in what it was supposed to be.

It is a story of betrayal and vengeance, and pure cynical grit.

James Fuller is a skilled storyteller who knows how to build up dramatic tension, and the result is a book that is even better and more engaging than the first one in the series.

Great like the first book

Once again, James Fuller crafted a great story in the apocalyptic dystopian world. Personally, I found What Remains more dark and gritty. However, it doesn't take away from the intensity of What's Left. James Fuller can write such scenes of visual violence with perfection. Almost hauntingly perfect as I could picture myself in the danger and reacted to the final blows. One scene in particular, one involving a repeated groin strike, got me the most. That is only one of many great scenes in this book. Auska' s character development and emotional issues toward Archer were done well. His teachings stuck with her as she learned to react to situations like him: violent yet smart. I enjoyed both books by a lot, and a prequel needs to happen for the story.

Just, wow!

TJ Pohlman’s abilities did not disappoint for the second time hearing him narrate. His ability to capture the personality of each character in his voice allowing the reader to differentiate between them is flawless.

Pohlman’s narrating skills mixed with James Fuller’s writing ability made this story one that was hard to stop listening to. This was the perfect end to the dystopian story that I very much enjoyed. I can’t wait for the prequel, What Began, to learn how this all started. What a ride.

A wonderful sequel!

What’s Left is a dark and gritty story, picking up where What Remains left off. Just like What Remains, this story is a masterpiece of emotions, action, and suspense. It kept my attention all the way through to the very end. I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys dystopian novels and is prepared for a realistic take on survival.

Well-written Apocalypse

This is a well-written apocalyptic story with an interesting cast of characters in a very dangerous world. It's everything many people would want in a dystopian world. Very dark, but feisty Auska gives us hope.
