Kept me guessing

The story kept me guessing with so many twists in the Duke's tale. Would he allow his feelings for Gabriella overcome his need for vengeance? Will their love overcome hidden secrets from the past?

Good Regency romance

If you're looking for a sweet Regency romance, I'd totally recommend What Would a Duke Do?. I really enjoyed this book from Ms. Cameron. The plot was unlike any I'd read before, which was a nice surprise, The twist in the plot caught me off guard, which was wonderfully unexpeted.

Ms Zimmerman has great pacing and a great British accent to help bring the characters to life. I appreciate how much emotion she pours into her performance.

I won't hesitate to pick up another book from Ms Cameron or one narrated by Ms Zimmerman. Well done.

Just another story of a wea k woman and a bullying

s for a story where the female lead is subjected to the continued bullying by a man that refuses to take no for an answer. Pennington is a despicable ass that enjoys using his position and power to bully and force Gabrielle to submit to him or he'll ruin and beggar her family. He's got a vendetta against Gabrielle's grandfather, and instead of being a man and facing his foe head-on, he tries blackmailing her into forced marriage to save her family. Just because he keeps telling himself he's an ass, despicable, underhanded, a bully, etc he takes way too much pleasure in humiliating, bullying and terrorizing her for the reader to believe he actually has any conscience about his behavior. The worn out HEA ending of him being changed by love is hard to swallow. Any man that has spent that much time and effort maneuvering to ruin and force a woman to submit to him against her will isn't going to actually change. His change of heart will be short tetm then he'll be back to being his bullying self.

I had hope for Gabrielle at the beginning, but it didn't take long before she was falling at the bullys feet at a mere look and loses all intelligence with a kiss. l

Betrayal and Healing

This wonderful story is full secrets, misunderstandings, and the heartbreak they can cause. As the story unfolds it becomes one of discovery, healing, and acceptance. I love Max and Gabby. If they can work everything out, they will be perfect with each other. All of the characters in this one are compelling. All of them have felt the pain of betrayal, and only they can help each other heal. The best thing about having to climb a mountain is that you eventually get to the top. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it, especially when it begins with “I could love you.” This is a hold-your-breath romance, and Stevie Zimmerman’s outstanding narration makes it a great listen.

Well done

Great story, great narrator. A Duke with revenge on his heart and the beautiful vicars daughter who is the target. He wants her grandfather's land that uses to be in his family, she thwarts him at every turn. When blackmailed to become his wife the tables will turn, feelings will change and he may lose his chance of having someone to love him. I received a complimentary audio and this review is voluntary.
