Great story

Love this story and author. I love that all the emotion and feelings come through without foul and explicit language but the reader still feels the intensity of the story. This would make a great movie

Narrator made the story!

I enjoyed this book start to finish. The narrator did such a great job and put so much effort into these characters. I would definitely recommend it to anybody.!

Drawn out story line and too much “oh Lord” and “momma always said” repeatedly through the book.

Not one single thing. The story line, the narrator the characters and Bible verses filled me.

Lovely story

Such a touching story, so many parts that just bring tears to your eyes. Death, disease, hatred, orphans, hunger, sin that makes our souls suffer due to our own poor choices. I enjoyed the era it was written and the faith and God portion and how the truth will always be revealed. God only can soften and heal our hearts. He brings redemption and draws us near to Him. Loved Eli and Bess and the other characters. This is my first book by this author. I recommend it.

A compelling story.

This is a captivating story, filled with heart wrench and yet survival. A engrossing book without the gratuitous sex scenes, language and violence most authors are compelled to include in their works.
The book does include horrific circumstances, but the author is clever enough to write about those events without having to include graphic details.

Great story

The narration was very good and her vernacular matched the setting beautifully. The story was enjoyable to listen to.

The story of family and finding family where there isn’t any. Love and perseverance in tough times. Fabulous presentation.
