Publisher's Summary

The master of everything has found his match. Jared Westin knows his reputation and likes it. He gets the job done. No emotion. No baggage. That's why his elite ops company, The Titan Group, is better than the best. They complete projects classified as mission impossible.

And then, in walks a woman as tough as she is sexy. His counterpart in every way, should he choose to admit it.

She's not willing to let her heart fall. Ousted undercover ATF agent Lilly Chase only answers to "Sugar". Jared is the only man who can see past her leather-and-lipstick demeanor, and that revelation is terrifying. She was fired for helping Titan on a questionable arrest she should've ignored, then partnered with Jared's rival on an assignment in Afghanistan.

Distance and danger do nothing to change her feelings. When she's left on the side of a mountain to die, an unexpected ally comes forward, and might open her heart.

The stakes couldn't be higher. Saving Sugar isn't a normal rescue operation. It pits Titan against its rival, Jared against his nemesis. Chasing Sugar's heart isn't a simple task, either. She fights him, fights them, always ready to run. When she becomes a pawn in a game of collateral damage, Jared must risk his life to save her - the woman whose bravado and surprising sweetness has given him the one thing he never had. Love.

I am so happy

These books are the perfect balance of super hot sex, guns, explosions, violence, and happy endings. Currently I'm I'm in a good place.

Pretty good

Another great addition to the series. Interesting characters and a good action story (even if there were plot holes).

SPOILER ALERT

Plot holes take away from the overall story but they are not deal-breakers. For example: Sugar being nonsensically oblivious to danger so she needs to be rescued over and over; and inconsistent character choices such as letting your target go for a ridiculous reason are obvious plot stretchers. The previous books had stronger plots.

Also, fact checking is needed to avoid making the author look silly. You can’t just reach into an engine and pull out a spark plug, for example.

Jared and Sugar learn to deal with each other

Lots of action of the guns and ammo and of the sexual kind. More character development with the team and more about Titan Group. Not sure how a whole family could be kept hidden given how good tech support is but that was a surprise. Lots of future stories hinted at but each of the women has had their own unique strengths. A good choice for the Romance Package but narration needed the addition of a female narrator.

Another Violent Asshole Who Hits Women

I am incredibly disappointed that Ms. Harper featured a violent asshole who liked to HIT women as her hero in the 3rd book of an otherwise entertaining series. Even more insulting to her own gender, another female writer appears to be advancing the myth that smart, strong women actually enjoy being beaten and raped.

In the first 2 books, Titan group owner Jared was portrayed as grumpy but never violent toward women and children. He even hired a female operator. and seemed to admire and respect women. When he acted on his attraction to the sassy Sugar, Jared appeared to appreciate her guts and intelligence as well as her beauty.

Unfortunately, Jared thought he had the right to HIT Sugar, leaving her body bruised and battered. Even more disturbing, Sugar suddenly went from being an assertive, confident professional to a stupid bimbo who LIKED to be beaten! (Perhaps the author should visit a women's shelter and ask survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse how much they LIKED being violated.)

Despite of the blatant lies popularized in recent romantic fiction, being struck in the genitals is not an erotic experience for sane women or men. Besides being physically painful, hitting (spanking) anyone is degrading and dehumanizing plus illegal. There is enough crime, suffering and pain in this world already without promoting sexual abuse as normal, acceptable behavior.

It is especially alarming that Sugar meekly accepted Jared's sexual bullying since she is trying to adopt an 8 year old girl orphan. Will Sugar allow Jared to abuse the child next?

Good - same as last book on my review

Overall opinion: 3.75 Stars
NOTE: Exact same review as the last book!!

I do like the stories although they tend to get very repetitive when the MCs are doing their woe-with-me in between every question or phrase. I found myself skipping forward multiple times as every question would be followed by internal dialog for up to a minute guessing incorrectly at the response. Aargh!

Brief Summary: No need to expand on the author's summary.

TNT hit as two Titans get together.

Having listened to the entire series, this is my favorite Titan book. (With Winter and Cash from 1 & 2 being my next favorites). It is chock full of all the things I love in an alpha male, Guns N Gals, Action N Amore, romance.

Jared is the leader of Titan Group, as tough and gruff as they come. But he meets his match in Sugar, bodacious, gum chewing and gun shooting badass. They have great chemistry, “TNT explosive- I can feel the heat through my headphones” chemistry.

Sometimes, alphas do stupid things when threatened. Sugar deals with their obvious attraction to each other by fleeing to the other side of the world and burying herself in dangerous work. Jared deals with her flight by amping up his commando quotient and channeling her need to challenge him into some very naughty competitions.

I loved that there was action, humor, and not too much angsty, sad backstory for these two ( unlike several of the later books in the series).. This is a rough and tumble romance, so you will need to forgive some of the lapses in plot points. I don’t listen to these for classical enlightenment; I want fun and alpha male escapism. Grab a fan, Iisten in, and get ready for the heat!

West is Chase

Loving the Titan men and their stories. And the narrator Jeffery Kafer does such a fantastic job of bringing them to life. Can’t wait for the next adventure to begin
