Publisher's Summary

An authority on wolves, veterinarian Dr. Madeline Styles is hired to stop a disease killing the wolf pups at the Shadow of the Moon Wolf Sanctuary in Montana. Wyatt Weylan, who runs the sanctuary, is drop dead gorgeous, mysterious, and domineering. A man one does not deny.

The minute Wyatt sees Madeline, he is smitten - no - obsessed. Unfortunately, he is forbidden to mate a human. Could she be a rare wolf maiden? A woman with the mark of the wolf? Not possible.

Madeline discovers the pack’s true nature and unexpected dangers that come with living in a secret society. Wyatt does his best to ease her into the truth, yet an immediate threat from an enemy werewolf shadows their tentative relationship.

Alpha Intensity

Listening to the audio after reading the book made this story come alive. The intensity of feeling and action is so much more real. The narrator was really good with the gruff Alpha voices and inflection, the feminine pitch needs a bit of work but still very enjoyable

competition

The discovery of the maiden wolf arouse alpha competition. I liked that Wyatt and Maddie were drawn to each other, but I was hoping for a mate bond or soul mate connection eliminating competition. Mark was a disgusting skeeve and a total waste. The nondisclosure and then full disclosure was a major cluster for both main characters-poor communication! Smh! The other alpha was ruthless and evil (which enraged me) in his pursuit of Maddie. Major action and drama I enjoyed. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Wolf maiden

This is the first book in the wolf maiden series and what an enjoyable story this book has been. The wolf sanctuary is looking for a human vet to solve a problem they are having with their pups. The only problem is when Wyatt finds her she is more than he expected. Fast forward and we find that the head of the wolves may just be connected to Maddy in some way. Part of Maddy’s concern about her mark is from her grandmother who told her stories as a child. Maddy’s grandmother has already passed when the story starts but Maddy was able to meet the man that her grandmother held a flame for all her life. The books with a HEA for Maddy and Wyatt but also with a bit of sorrow. Overall I loved this book with twists and turns and an a&hole of a wolf who gets what’s deserved.

Werewolf

The werewolves don’t know why their young are losing the ability to shift and they are worried about what this could mean for them. I enjoyed the characters especially when Maddie had to learn that werewolves were real and not just in the stories. I enjoyed her and Wyatt even if at times it felt a bit fast. Maddie has to figure out wha is causing the young to become true wolves a lose their human side before it is too late. There was a lot of action that helped to move the story along and I enjoyed the ending a lot.

Moved too fast, a little corny

I like the plot and the story is pretty good. However, the romance moves too quickly and the scenarios are played out too coincidentally. I gave it 4 hours to see if it would capture my attention but I finally threw in the towel. The nail in the coffin is the narrator. His inflections are off putting and corny.

Way better than I thought it would be~

Well I'll start with I listened to this on my audible books and I really liked the story a lot. Lots of action, adventure then add in some heat, a love story and a doctor trying to save wolf pups and OMG it's a lot to take in but a very well thought out story. The characters all fit perfectly with a storyline that touches my heart with Vets (as in men in uniform) and wolves and wolf pups. I have to be honest the narrator wasn't my favorite and I really hate to say that because they all do a nice job but the voice with the story didn't fit for me.

Enjoyable Shifter Escapism!

Eva Gordon has the amazing ability of writing exciting stories. Each series features unique realities that have their own rules and systems. The characters are complex, intelligent, sexual beings that find themselves in fantastical situations. This audiobook is no exception. Wyatt Weylan is the alpha of his pack and his pack is losing pups to a mysterious disease. Dr Madeline Styles, a leading veterinarian specialist in wolves, may be the answer to their problems. However, even before Wyatt can really approach her with a proposition to help, they feel a strong, unusual connection. That, coupled with Maddie's unusual birthmark, makes them fated mates. The problems are that Maddie did not grow up with a knowledge of her relevance in the shifter world and Wyatt's enemies don't intend to allow him to claim his mate. I love Wyatt's empathetic alpha tendencies. He attempts to balances his rights as the alpha against Maddie's comfort, despite all the challenges they face. I also love that Madeline is no damsel in distress. What she may lack in physical strength, especially when dealing with the more powerful shifters, she more than makes up for with her intelligence. The story is fast and fun. Paranormal romance escapism at its best! This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review."
