I spent the first 24 years of my pastoral career in three beautiful churches around the country and then semi-retiring on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I had no idea that these barrier islands were about to become one of America's hottest wedding destinations.

The Outer Banks Wedding Association contacted me about being one of their wedding officiants, and the rest is history. After hanging out with over 3,000 couples, you can imagine that some pretty 'wild' things happened along the way. Most were funny, and some were sad, but I started to document them over the years.

After all, don't worry too much! Everything is going to be perfectly splendid. You will be perfect, and your wedding day will be perfect.

A Fun and Insightful look at Wedding Days

An extremely powerful insight of the strange things that can happen when family and friends come together for a wedding. I enjoyed the humor and real life stories of Rev. Jay.

It is full of short, cute and funny stories making it a perfect audio book for trips around town. The narrators were cast perfectly for the type of stories told, keeping my attention and making it very enjoyable.

I found this book to be laugh-out-loud funny, and also provided lessons to help understand and deal with others.
Every story was entertaining, to-the-point and had a golden nugget within it to give guidance to navigating
unexpected situations and people. A great read!

I could visualize every, single, one of these!

Rev. Jay’s stories had me smiling throughout. Mostly. A few were shock and awe moments! From the honeybee, to the unfiltered and verbose little ring bearer, to “ELMR”, you will be entertained throughout!

As a bride myself we all know weddings can be stressful and let’s face it something will go wrong.... but at least we aren’t bound to be as crazy as some of these stories. Take some time to relax and laugh with this book. I really enjoyed it. It’s sure to keep you entertained. Even if you aren’t the bride or groom you can appreciate these stories. The stories are quick so you can listen to a few here and there.
