Publisher's Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of We Can See You by Simon Kernick, read by Richard Goulding.

The new high-octane thriller from Sunday Times best-selling author Simon Kernick

We have your daughter. We know your secrets. We can see you.

You have it all. Success, a beautiful home, a happy family.

Until, in a heartbeat, it's gone.

We've kidnapped your daughter, and we know everything about you. Including the dark secrets from your past you thought were forgotten.

We tell you not to contact the police - and that we’ll know if you do. Because we can see you.

And now you know this is no ordinary abduction. It’s worse. Within hours you’re on the run, with only one thought in your head:

That you will stop at nothing to get your daughter back.

Even murder....

Do not waste your credit

So incredibly bad. I had my doubts about the first book by this author but never again will I choose one of his. The motive was ridiculous, the dialogue especially at the end unbelievably bad,The whole story was so full of holes you had to be an idiot to go on and read till the end....I did as I wanted to see how bad it could get. Never again

Fast-paced thriller with outstanding narration....

The narrator definitely helped this book earn all of its stars! I felt that the book was very compelling from minute #1, but as soon as all of the facts were revealed, it became predictable. When I clicked on the narrator's name to check other titles that he narrated, I was surprised to see that this was his first book narration.

If you're a fan of Harlan Coben's earlier novels (which are much, much better than his most recent titles), you will enjoy this book.

Kernick Delivers a Solid Thriller

Simon Kernick is one of those authors whose name on a book is akin to a near guarantee of a certain level of quality. He has produced a consistent stream of good or very good books over the years. This one is an adrenaline-fuelled thriller that marches on at a very decent pace. The blurb which doesn't really describe the start scenario very accurately about our lead Brook Connor having a happy family makes it sound like a family noir but it really does become more than that. I don't think it's exactly genre-busting but it is an exciting story and although you'll probably have to put on your beer goggles to believe in some of the scenes it makes for a very entertaining listen.

Richard Goulding puts in a very credible narration performance, he put me in mind to some extent of a mild-mannered RC Bray in some ways. He certainly gets the key things right being clear and easy to listen to and has a good enough selection of voices to give each character their own identity.

So, if you want a psychological whodunnit and whytheydunnit type of thriller with a good action content overseen by an author who is ruthless enough with his characters to make you feel that just about any kind of ending could possibly result this probably isn't a bad choice.

Let dowm

I was really excited when I saw there was a new Simon Kernick available, but it's really disappointing. Set in California, there's none of the gritty Londoners from his previous novels and I missed Paul Thornley's brilliant narration. Instead it's delivered in a poor faux American accent with some bizarre characterisations. Overall I would say, if you like Harlan Cohen you'll probably like this, but it's not a typical Kernick.

Not as good as his previous books

Disappointed with this book, have enjoyed his previous ones.
I didn't like the American story, not as good as the English ones.

Disappointing.

I Think I have read all or at least most of Simon Kernick’s books and usually love them. This one however was not up to his usual standard. It is not set in the UK but in America and is reminiscent of a Harlan Coben novel and not a particularly good one. I hope this is a one off and he goes back to writing about english crime with some of my favourites like Tina Boyd. It’s ok but disappointing if you were expecting his usual crime/thriller page turners.

Disappointed

Lost interest in this book immediately when hearing the narration and realising it was set in the U.S. Have enjoyed all previous books by Simon Kernick but this just not for me.

Not the usual standard

Simon Kernicks books have always been gripping and I have always loved Paul Thornleys narration. This book however did nothing for me. I have a strong suspicion that this is ‘publisher led’ to satisfy an American audience. Unfortunately Simon’s USP has been lost with this book and it was bland and middle of the road.

So disappointing not his usual gripping story

If I wanted to read a Jack Reacher book I would of purchased a jack reacher book , not his usual gripping race against time , on the the edge of your seat story , It was actually really boring and more suitable for American readers. Back to Tim Weaver books it is then because this one was pants

Thrilling from start to finish. Amazing work.

This stand-alone book from Simon Kernick takes his work in a somewhat new direction from his tried and trusted genre. The book begins with every parent's worst nightmare; Your child has been taken, do not call the police, we are watching everything you do ... "We Can See You!" A thrilling read/listen from start to finish with twists and turns throughout heading towards an incredible conclusion that I guarantee you will never see coming in a million years! Thought provoking and an intriguing character depth makes this book a must. Great work.
