Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

They were the Savages. Raiders from our distant past. Elites who left Earth to create tailor-made utopias aboard the massive lighthuggers that crawled through the darkness between the stars. But the people they left behind on a dying planet didn't perish in the dystopian nightmare the Savages had themselves created: they thrived, discovering faster-than-light technology and using it to colonize the galaxy ahead of the Savages, forming fantastic new civilizations that surpassed the wildest dreams of Old Earth.

Totally binged the entire book in one listen!!
This week be the first review I've actually written. I always give stars, but just never take the time to write a review. I feel like I have to say though, that I am beyond in love with everything to do with this universe that's been created and I just made up a bunch of reasons to stay in the garage, so that I could listen to the entire thing, including the author's note, the interview at the end, the credits, and listened to the gag real twice lol. Not only that, but I have no doubt that if book 3 were available, I would 100% already be listening to it right now too!
Oh, and side note, there are so many throw away lines and movie quotes that made me realize just how many movies I have memorized from when I was a kid, and I'm not sure if I'm proud of slightly ashamed that I'm fairly certain I caught every single one and knew exactly what movie was being referenced! I have to say I laughed the hardest at the Tinker quote from Road House!! that has always been my favorite line from that movie and I thought it was just me that will forever have it seared into my mind, but apparently Brody thought it was a great one too lol! Thank you all for bringing such an entertaining and satisfying story to life, and R.C. Bray is an absolute mad genius! What a perfect collaboration!! Can not wait for 3!!!

Thanks for making me relive my time at the movie theaters and walking down the aisles at Block Buster. Brody is now living in the back of my mind shouting movie lines...so thanks fot that. 😝
One guy you missed was Patrick Swayze. Sure you mentioned Red Dawn (1984) but what about Uncommon Valor (1983) and my personal favorite Steel Dawn (1987). Don't forget Peter Griffin's personal favorite ROADHOUSE! (1989)

Great sequel
The second Wayward Galaxy was even better than anticipated. The evolution of the characters and the story line is compelling and holds your interest with every page read. R.C.Bray was his usual brilliant self, bringing the characters, and the alien planet’s flora and fauna to life as if you were there yourself. As per your request Jason, my favorite action stars from the eighties were Kurt Russell, Escape From New York, The Thing, Big Trouble In Little China, and Arnold, his whole catalog. I very much look forward to the third installment of Wayward Galaxy, and could not recommend it any higher to anyone who hasn’t listened to either book yet.

Sam Thompson

Difficult to follow battle sequences
First, I'm a huge fan of the first audio book. This second book in the series had great moments and I laughed out loud several times!
I had difficulty following what the heck was going on in the battle scenes though. A bunch of new characters were suddenly introduced and I couldn't keep track of what the heck was going on at times. I had to rewind several times to relisten. The main problem I had was remembering what the current environment was like where the characters were. As the story jumped from scene to scene, it wasn't very well described what the situation was like. Normally, I feel like I can picture events in my head, but the lack of descriptive information made that difficult in many cases.
Also, why chase down an entangled partical when you don't know where the matched entangled particle is?????

Absolutely fantastic!
More more more! What s brilliant series, the characters are so well defined with strong personalities and unique ones line Broody ,(fantastically funny dialogue - loved it!). I don't want to give anything away, but this is a must listen. RC Bray is fantastic as usual. The guy brings each character alive and infuses personality into them that I do not think any other narrator can.
The story has plenty of twists and turns and the accurate ranger and military speak adds to the picture the author and narrator are vividly painting in your mind.

Hardcore military sci-fi
R.C, Bray is legendary in his delivery as always. Listening to the clip of the author talking about the book you can hear the deep respect and commitment to keeping the representation of Ranger culture real. This dominates the story-line with long passages based on current day Ranger culture, language & tactics. If you love that stuff as well as sc-fi you'll love this book (and series) as the backdrop story is classic sc-fi.

Over use.
Loving this series of book's so far, although I definitely think having Mr Bray on board to narrate has helped by a long way.
The only real issue I have with the book's is the over use of the detail of what size ammunition is being used during every battle, ex forces might like this but your average sci fi reader or listener no so much, but that's just my own personal observation.
Anyway apart from that it's a great series so far and looking forward to hearing the next installment.

Very much in joy this and think it could be a great movie
Fishing on a lake France listening to this book, how ever the fishing became secondary as could not stop listening. Story just the right amount of everything to keep your attention. What great authors and good choice to have RC Bray at the business end.
Can’t wait for book 3.

audiobook is probably great
audiobook is probably great, but on my phone (reasonably new) the chapter names aren't appearing for this title. As I use the books to go to sleep and alternate between a tablet and mobile listen to it. a little bummed.

Yep you’ve still got it!!
As an 80’s child I’m Absolutely loving this series,
It’s been written solely for the talented R.C.Bray to do his work - no one else could do it justice.
So many memories come back listening to Brodie’s ramblings.
Ps
The Highlander - there can be only one!
Knight rider or
American Ninja
All essential watching for you legends - Anspach and Chaney thank you
Cheers Dave

Lost me halfway, like a totally different book
The second half of the book takes a dramatic turn and it's non stop shooting, firefight, tanks, bots, planes, drones...characters getting killed...I had to back track 3 times because I kept thinking i'd zoned out and missed a whole bunch of story leading to this but it really does just do a total 180 and go "OK we reached our objective, now lets go blow some stuff up" and a lot of the plot and build up from the first half is thrown out the window and ignored, replaced with action scene after action scene.
Really lost me in the second half of the book and found myself just waiting for it to be over.

Sorry you lost me.
unfortunately i found this addition just to military heavy. This is just to my personal tastes , the book had less scifi , mystery and way more operations.
R C BRAY as per usual spot on.
still a good yarn though.

So much potential, but lacking actual story.
i think probably 70% of these books are 'action scenes'. they arnt a problem. they arnt poorly written or narrated. but in my opinion there so much content missing. Gun fights are great, but they arnt new. Its less wayward galaxy, more first person prospective.

Dango and cash or big trouble in little China
Great story.
Love Brody.
I see the story going deep in to the jungle with bigger scary monsters
Or off world finding life pods in space drifting off with higher ranking ranger coursing bigger drama!
Good work guys. Yep 👍

Not as good as book 1. Waaaay too many acronyms
Book one was good. Great to follow and keep track of. Really good. Book 2 had so many characters that I totally lost track of who was who, which force they were with, who was shot etc etc. Sooo confusing. And oh my word, the acronyms. Hundreds of them. I’m not army so I had no idea. R C Bray saved this one from a return.
