About this listen

For Those She Loves, She Will Do Great and Terrible Things.

Panic consumes the countryside as the body count rises. Whispers of an unnatural beast spread through the kingdom. When the Queen calls for her heroes, those who answer will have to make do.

The best tracker in the known world.

A son who follows in his father's footsteps.

An investigator with nothing to lose.

A Captain with everything to prove.

But even once the mystery of the beast is unraveled a far more sinister plot is revealed. To protect the innocent Charlotte Sloan will have to become something else. After all, it takes a monster to kill a monster.

Where more can really be said other than another masterpiece from Jonathan Yanez!!
And here is my only complaint regarding this book. Where is the sequel or more importantly when will the sequel be available? I only inquire due to the fact that the Way of the Wolf kind of leaves things somewhat in limbo with some of the characters. Other than getting to the final page and realizing that I had actually just read the 1st book of the Shadow and Serpent Series. However, when performing a search for this series, I come up with a complete blank as it does not even show The way of the Wolf where it is listed as book 1.
Other than that, this book is just as great as everyone of Me Yanez's other books which I have had the privilege to have read!!

You will NOT regret reading this book or listening to it, which ever is your predilection .

Another masterpiece from Jonathan Haney!

I loved the characters and story line . It drew me in from the beginning. Great story. Fantastical world that mirrors much of our world but with added magic. I cannot wait to read the next novel!

Fantastic adventure novel

did I miss the "alternate Earth" label on this?

This was a slog. So many historical reference which were cherry-picked without cohesion. Famous names were used (Edison, Livingston) but felt more like a shortcut cheat to force the reader to think they were brilliant scientists. Those names put the story in Victorian England, and the mention of croissants puts them near France, but neither nation was mentioned. A big part of the story revolves around a certain motion machine which sets the time period, but then someone was dressed in a trenchcoat, which was named for a particular War which isn't in the story.

What made me lose all respect was when one the characters mentioned the "bad news bears" as a euphemism for a dire situation. Not a cute fourth wall reference to some bears the characters were discussing. Just out-of-the-blue reference to a movie from my childhood. in a story without movies, it was jarring.

wasn't for me
