Acerca de esta escucha
Award-winning, best-selling and beloved Jacqueline Wilson tells the fascinating, moving story of a girl sent away from home as an evacuee during the Second World War.
September, 1939. As the Second World War begins, 10-year-old Shirley is sent away on a train with her schoolmates. She doesn't know where she's going, or what's going to happen to her when she gets there. All she has been told is that she's going on 'a little holiday'.
Shirley is billeted in the country, with two boys from East End London, Kevin and Archie - and their experiences living in the strange, half-empty Red House, with the mysterious and reclusive Mrs Waverley, will change their lives for ever.
Jacqueline Wilson turns to this period of history for the first time, in this beautiful, moving story of friendship and bravery against the backdrop of the worst conflict the world has ever known.

The best ever!
This book is probably one of the best books I've ever read. It's funny, it's sad, it's absolutely fantastic. I have listened to it at least 10 times and can quote most of it but I'm still not fed up with it..in fact I'm listening to it now, still! I strongly recommend this to girls aged 8-12 because it will suit our age range. Not for adults- I pushed my daddy to listen to it and he thought it was good, but preferred adult books. My probably favourite character is Jessica. No offence to Shirley, but Jessica is less sensitive. When Shirley SPOILER ALERT says her mum came jessica was happy for her. But when SPOILER ALERT Jessica said that she was going to her Nanny in whales Shirley wasn't exactly happy for her. All in all, this is a 100 per cent 5 star book. You should read it!!!
