Publisher's summary
In this inspiring memoir, a former female marine platoon leader recalls the wars she has fought - on the playing field and the battlefield and inside her own soul - revealing how overcoming the harrowing circumstances in her life helped her ultimately redefine what it means to be strong and what "perfect" really is.
Theresa Larson has lived multiple lives. At 10 she was a caregiver to her dying mother. As an adolescent, an All-Star high school, college, and professional softball player. As a young adult, a fitness competition winner, beauty pageant contestant, and model. And as a grown woman, a high-achieving lieutenant in the marines, in charge of an entire platoon while deployed in Iraq.
Meanwhile, Theresa was battling bulimia nervosa, an internal struggle that ultimately cut short her military service when she was voluntarily evacuated from combat. Theresa's journey to wellness required the bravery to ask for help, to take care of herself first, and to abandon the idea of "perfect". In Warrior, she lays bare all of these lives in intimate and vivid detail, examining extremely personal and sometimes painful moments and how, by finally accepting the help of others, she learned to make herself whole. From growing up in a log cabin outside Seattle to facing down the enemy in Iraq, Theresa's journey demonstrates that good health and happiness are daily, intentional acts that require persistence and commitment.
Theresa hopes that through sharing her story, she will inspire others to empower themselves, embrace their inner warriors, and redefine strength. Startling and funny, terrifying and triumphant, heartbreaking and inspirational, Warrior is at heart a story of perseverance and success - of a determined woman who is a model for all who are struggling to conquer their own demons. Theresa shows that asking for help can be an act of courage and that we are stronger than we think when faced with seemingly impossible odds.

Story
All Things Aside is a punchy, honest, incisive book that shares a view of the world through the eyes of the inimitable Iliza Shlesinger. From the macro to micro, Shlesinger tackles it all with her no-bullshit comedic style. Throughout the book, Shlesinger dives from one subject into the next, making her hilarious asides the basis of her stories, much like she does in her stand-up comedy. Topics range from dissecting social expectations to the notion that products marketed specifically to women are scams, and all manner of things in between.

From Andre Agassi, one of the most beloved athletes in history and one of the most gifted men ever to step onto a tennis court, a beautiful, haunting autobiography. Agassi brings a near-photographic memory to every pivotal match and every relationship. Never before has the inner game of tennis and the outer game of fame been so precisely limned. In clear, taut prose, Agassi evokes his loyal brother, his wise coach, his gentle trainer, all the people who help him regain his balance and find love at last with Stefanie Graf.

Story
During his years in a neural-health facility, Pat Peoples has formulated a theory about silver linings. He believes that his life is a movie produced by God, that his mission is to become physically fit and emotionally supportive, and that if he succeeds, his happy ending will be the return of his estranged wife, Nikki. When Pat goes to live with his parents, everything seems changed: no one will talk to him about Nikki, and his new therapist seems to be recommending adultery as a form of therapy.

Story
Man o' wars are not jellyfish, and River McIntyre is not happy. River doesn't know why they're unhappy—though perhaps it has something to do with the way they relate more to captive marine life at the local aquarium than to the people around them. That is, until they have a run-in with Indigo "Indy" Waits on the annual class field trip. Face-to-face with an affirmed queer person, River leaps out of the closet and into the shark tank. Literally.

It’s hard enough coming out, but playing basketball for a nationally ranked school and trying to figure out your sexual identity in the closeted and paranoid world of big-time college sports - that’s a challenge. Kate Fagan’s love for basketball and for her religious teammates at the University of Colorado was tested by the gut-wrenching realization that she could no longer ignore the feelings of otherness inside her. A family doctor with limited surgical experience, Dr. Dave Hnida volunteered for two tours of duty in Iraq - first as a battalion surgeon with a combat unit and then as trauma chief at the busiest Combat Support Hospital (CSH) during the Surge. Like a modern-day M*A*S*H, Dr. Hnida and his team conducted surgery under terrible conditions in a series of tents connected to the occasional run-down building.

The benefits of restrictive diets like paleo and keto have been touted for more than a decade, but as renowned gastroenterologist Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, or "Dr. B", illuminates in this groundbreaking audiobook, the explosion of studies on the microbiome makes it abundantly clear that elimination diets are in fact hazardous to our health. What studies clearly now show - and what Dr. B preaches with his patients - is that gut health is the key to boosting our metabolism, balancing our hormones, and taming the inflammation that causes a host of diseases.

Story
Double take: a rapid or surprised second look, either literal or figurative, at a person or situation whose significance has not been completely grasped at first. Kevin Michael Connolly is a 23-year-old man who has seen the world in a way most of us never will. Whether swarmed by Japanese tourists at Epcot Center as a child or holding court at the X Games on his mono-ski, Kevin Connolly has been an object of curiosity since the day he was born without legs.

Story
After losing her high-octane job as an entertainment blogger, Noelle Hancock was lost. About to turn 29, she'd spent her career writing about celebrities' lives and had forgotten how to live her own. Unemployed and full of self-doubt, she had no idea what she wanted out of life. She feared change - in fact, she feared almost everything. Once confident and ambitious, she had become crippled by anxiety, lacking the courage required even to attend a dinner party - until inspiration struck one day in the form of a quote on a chalkboard in a coffee shop.

Marina Keegan's star was on the rise when she graduated magna cum laude from Yale in May 2012. She had a play that was to be produced at the New York International Fringe Festival and a job waiting for her at the New Yorker. Tragically, five days after graduation, Marina died in a car crash. Even though she was just 22 when she died, Marina left behind a rich, expansive trove of prose that, like her title essay, captures the hope, uncertainty, and possibility of her generation.

Finally!
Women veterans are such a rare breed; we’re largely misunderstood by so many and we probably look a little weird. Finally, I feel UNDERSTOOD! Bless you, sister! 💝 With that said, any human will benefit by reading; I cannot recommend highly enough.

A powerful book & nice read
While I'm a couple years older than Theresa, I can't say I've gone through half the struggles nor triumphed over half as many obstacles as she's encountered. She's a badass and strong in every way.
Whether you've have an eating disorder, are dealing an issue you don't think you can overcome, or know someone that's dealing with a seemingly insurmountable demon, this is a great story that anyone can pull a lot of good life lessons and inspiration from. It's a powerful book with a powerful message.

Definitely worth the listen!!!
This has to be one of the most real, emotional and honest books I've read in a long time. An amazing story of personal struggle, public struggle and the road to victory. Everyone, no matter if you are struggling with an inner demon or not, will be able to get pulled into the graphic detailed story of this warrior. Amazing.

Great Book
Warrior is a great story about a strong woman battling bulimia. She takes the listener through the stages of denial, acceptance, coping and finally surrender in order to recover. This is a book about leadership, discipline and overcoming personal challenges. I found the narration was great as well.

the victory in the end and what direction her career took her to. working with vets is inspiring and who better than someone who can understate the pressures of being a warrior.
