No one wanted another war.

There's been some confusion—not to say, um, energetic debate, readers and fans being readers and fans—about the correct pronunciation of "Manticoran." The truth, alas, is that a stitch was dropped. An error occurred. A mistake was made… and it wasn't Audible's fault. It was mine. Before Audible recorded the very first Honor Harrington book, narrator Allyson Johnson and I not only corresponded by e-mail but actually spoke to one another by phone. She wanted to make absolutely certain she had the correct pronunciations for names, places, star nations, etc., and I tried to make certain all of her questions were answered. And so they were. Unfortunately, at some point in the process, I replied to one of her e-mails by telling her that "Man-ti-core-ahn" was pronounced "Man-tik-er-ahn." Exactly how this happened is more than I can say at this point, except to blushingly disclose that the original e-mail remains intact, confirming to all the world that it was, indeed, my fault. I can ascribe it only to a temporary mental hiccup on my part and crave your forgiveness. If, however, you must blame someone for the mix-up, that someone should be me and not Audible, who have done everything they could to get it right.

What made the experience of listening to War of Honor the most enjoyable?

What can I say... I'm sold out to this story and it's many many books...
As in most of the books there is something to like or dislike for everyone. Space battles, politics, tech etc. Each book will have more or less of what you like, but most folks love this series overall.

What about Allyson Johnson’s performance did you like?

I at the point where Allyson's is the ONLY voice of my characters. Well done.

Beyond brilliant.

I don't know how David Weber does it but every book he writes just keeps surpassing it's self one after another. This story concentrated on the political side of life more than previous books in the series but it just opened up a different but equally complex story line than I have experienced so far. Absolutely loved it.

good story, very well narrated, but action never the end could have been more descriptive.

Setting things up.

This book does a nice job of setting things up for the next part of the saga. It's a little slow and ponderous but thats just me.

What made the experience of listening to War of Honor the most enjoyable?

I held off for months in getting this installment of the Honor Harrington series due to previous reviews. I found the book to be far better than those review have you believe. The performance is excellent the story is long but in no way tedious to listen to. If I had read the book instead of listening while I commute, it may have seemed tedious. The story flows and has new plot points and twists.

War of Honor

I enjoyed this book. I found the politics fascinating and I wonder how many wars were restarted just because someone played games with the wording during treaty negotiations. The battle scenes were great and am glad Honor was back in action, this time in charge of a fleet. The interaction with the tree cats is interesting now that they can communicate via sign language. Allyson Johnson is Honor no other narrator would do. Can not wait to start the next book in the series.

Details and background are important!

Those who argue that this story is a bit tedious are missing the point. If one has the attention span of a dust mite maybe this is boring but I enjoy how those seemingly boring political and social details blossom into meaningful repercussions over the timespan of the story.
Yes, I will listen to this again if only for an even greater appreciation of the minutae that becomes momentous to later moments of clarity.

Honor is amazing

This is a great book, though knowledge of previous books is helpful this can be a standalone book if necessary.
