Decent read but not really an Honor Harrington bk

I liked the book for the most part but there was very little involvement of the title character until the last few chapters. The author clearly wants to expand the universe with other characters but it feels a bit like bait and switch. The first nine tenths of the book has a handful of space battles commanded by other captains and a few cameo-level appearances by Honor interacting with tree cats and friends.

What you might think of as act 2 is a very wordy series of political intrigue settings and scenes along with lots of tree cat narration. This became monotonous at one point. The underlying story is compelling enough to keep you pushing through but it is at best, "good" story telling but by no means great.

I've read all 14 novels and I'd definitely put this one at the bottom of the stack.

Honor for President

From the beginning, I have loved this series. From the characters to the physics, it all hangs together in a emotional, beautiful, believable.

The story and performance in this production are both top notch.

Can’t wait for the next one!

It is one of the best series I've ever read I hope you keep writing

What a series!

Although I do love this series I am saddened by the losses that have occurred throughout the series. I hope to see Honor again but I hope she gets some much needed rest even if it’s only brief.

Must read. No one does it like David Weber. And Honor Harrington is his best work.

Allyson Johnson Does It Again

I have now been through the 14 core books of the Honor Harrington series in the past months and Weber's writing has as always been enjoyable and detailed. But for me, it is really the narrator's amazing talent that brings the series to life. I cannot possibly imagine keeping all of the voices and accents straight, yet somehow you know exactly who's talking and where they're from the moment she starts speaking for them. Her narration of heart-rending passages of tragedy tugs just right at all the heartstrings, and her straightforward but triumphant narration of moments of victory truly makes your heart soar. I am deeply grateful for her skill in bringing this series to audible and I look forward to hearing more from her again.

Great Story

Fantastic way to cap Honor's navy career. About my only criticism is that the culmination of the story could have been extended a bit.

Satisfying ending to the story!

Enjoyable if you remember Honor is a Fleet commander, and so can't be everywhere at once. The story goes on!
