To them, he was an experiment. To me, he is family.

The first time I saw him, I had no idea he had recently escaped from a mysterious lab. That he had been created there. I'd been living on the streets, which was tough, but preferable to home. Then one day, I stumbled upon this mangy dog being attacked.

I saved him. But then he saved me and I realized that Muttface wasn't a normal dog. He was crazy intelligent. I'm talking Mensa levels.

When we sought help from a grieving veterinarian named Sully, his clinic was attacked and destroyed by mercenaries. So now here we are, the three of us. On the run across the country against a powerful enemy. Who are they and what do they want with us?

Through the danger, terror, and pain, one thing was becoming clear to me: I have finally found the family I always wanted and I will do anything to keep them safe....

Even if it means risking my own life.

*The award-winning creator & screenwriter of ground-breaking BBC television show, Spirit Warriors starring Jessica Henwick (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Game of Thrones, The Defenders) brings you an action-packed thrill-ride in her debut novel fans unanimously raved about, describing it as a "Must-Read" and "Unputdownable". If you loved Dean Koontz's Watchers, Marvel movie Logan, Maximum Ride, and stories about dogs, you will love The Chase Ryder Series.*

Loved This!

Animal lovers of all ages will just love this wonderful story and be rooting for Bandit. I was captivated from beginning to end and completely wowed by this tale of survival, love and family. Sometimes real family is the one you create, not the one you are born into. Although I am much older than the target audience, the characters tugged at my heartstrings and I fell in love with Bandit the dog. The suspense kept me riveted to this terrific story and I enjoyed the tender moments as well. The ending was very satisfying. The narration was excellent and definitely one of the highlights. Her voice as 14 year old Chase was very believable and I loved the emotion that she brought to the characters. This was a terrific listen and I would highly recommend Wanted.

Amazing story

I received this book for free at my request but the opinion is my own. This book was awesome! Chase is use to living on the streets not trusting anyone due to her past running into a dog that gets hurt. She soon finds out he has special abilities and wants to protect him. Great characters, fun plot, really fun read. You definitely root for not only the dog but for chase to let down her guard toward people.

Outstanding New YA/Teen Series!

This is such a great adventure for kids and adults of all ages! Bandit is such an amazing lovable dog that will capture your heart! This is a suspenseful fast paced book that grabs your attention from beginning to the awesome conclusion.

Narration was excellent and brought the story to life. I hope Heather will be narrating the whole series.

The characters are well developed and each scene is so well described that I felt immersed into the story. It was a great rollercoaster ride with some twists and turns.

I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series! This author is so talented. She knows how to capture her audience and keep them on their toes all the way through.

Great New Adventure Series

This one won't disappoint, it starts off pretty quickly and keeps your attention throughout the book. I don't want to give anything away so l will keep my review brief. On top of the adventure you go on an emotional ride as you learn about the characters and watch as they grow closer together. This was a pretty clean book, there were only a few bad words but no f-bombs. I would say this is great for 4th grade and up, it's definitely geared toward the teenage crowd but one that adults can get into and enjoy as well. The narration is spot on and a lot of fun to listen to. It's a great start to the series and I would highly recommend it.

Wanted: Book Two in This Series: Loved It

I loved everything about Wanted. I can see how Jo Ho is an award-winning screenwriter. The structure of this story was AMAZING. Chase was an immediate likeable character but when Muttface came into the picture, they suddenly became the dynamic duo. Then when Sully entered they became the thrilling trio.

Even though I'm an adult, I felt a connection with this story. It's a perfect YA series. It was exciting, fun, relateable, and for anyone who loves dogs, a bit of a rollercoaster ride.

Heather Masters WAS Chase. She gave Chase an excellent voice. Such a fabulous narrator. She took this book over the top with her read. I hope she reads the whole series.

Even more remarkable as an audio book

Heather Masters narration of this exciting story is really something special. She reads with an amazing emotional versatility and wonderful wry sense of humor, which I had completely missed when I read this first as a book. I reveled in Chase’s personality with the subtle inflections in her voice and marveled at the deep voice and unsympathetic hardness of the professional mercenary.

It was as if I was watching a film. Quite a few times I was so engrossed in the story that I reached for the iPad to adjust the picture or reached for my glasses because I couldn’t see it quite clearly enough, and then laughed, realizing I was listening to a an audiobook.

Great Teen Adventure

Chase is a homeless teen who is saved by an extraordinary dog she names Bandit. Not only does he help keep her from danger but also provides food for this starving girl and a loving companionship that she craves.

The story starts off quick and continues with the same energy throughout. She takes Bandit to a vet (Sully) after being injured and soon finds out that Bandit has escaped from a medical research institution. Sully, a depressed widower, assumes responsibility and takes the trio on the run.

The story line is imaginative and a little predictable but beautiful just the same. The dialogue is on a teen or pre-teen level so just perfect for the right audience. I had to give it a four in lieu of a five rating even though I am not the intended audience.

Heather did a great job narrating. I was provided this audiobook for my honest review.

Fantastic Book, Narration Makes it Even Better

The narration by Heather Masters makes this fantastic book even better. She adds an extra dimension of life to Jo Ho's already-cinematic and emotional writing, fully embodying the character of Chase. You really feel as if you are in Chase's shoes, and feel every bit of fear, terror, and pain that she does. Absolutely brilliant and a must-listen by all young adult and thriller fans, and of course, all you dog lovers out there. If you're looking for a great story, fantastic writing with engaging voice delivery, you couldn't do much better than this. I've loved both reading the book and experiencing the story again in a new way via this audiobook. Highly, highly recommend.

Best dog ever!

This is the story of Chase, a young girl living in the streets, on her own, until she finds a clever dog that will turn her life around.
The story is fast paced and have all the characters running against time to find a way out of trouble. There a not many characters and occasionally there are some switch in point of views but I just love how they all are portrait. I've only got to read a couple of books by Jo Ho, but this is the thing that makes like her books the most, it's the way we get to identify with the characters, in good and bad, they just feel so real. I love it.
Even this is the start of a serie, it is totally a closed story with no cliffhangers, so go ahead and fall in love with Chase and Bandit.
PS: The narrator also did an great job!

An exciting adventure with genuine warmth

Listening to this audiobook took me back to the movies I loved as a kid, though Chase is certainly no Goonie; this is darker, more mature stuff. All the characters have experienced genuine trauma, and whilst on the run they find comfort in companionship. Who better to teach the power of friendship than a dog. This would make a great book to listen to on a road trip, hopefully there’ll be more to come in the series.

Only fools play the 'What if?' game.

A quick act of kindness by a troubled homeless girl is the introduction of Chase to the remarkable dog who will become more than a friend, he'll bring her the sense of family. Written in a mix of first and third person, this delightful S.F.thriller adventure had warmth, excitement and raises some issues to ponder, not least those of identity and relationships. The story is a quick and easy read with some emotional highlights and is suitable for all ages. And especially dog owners.

Narration by Heather Masters is good, her young sounding voice reflecting the sense of Chase herself and delivered with a great sense of timing, well intoned and clear. The text is clearly articulated and her performance also conveys the emotion inherent within it, nicely done.

I was fortunate in being freely gifted a complimentary copy of Wanted by the rights holder. Thank you. This was an enjoyable and imaginative story that Y.A.s especially should be able to relate to, but also recommended to oldsters like myself who still have that memory of the emotions of youth.

Touching Tale

This is the first in the Chase Ryder series and is surprisingly well coordinated in terms of character development, emotional suspense and reader appeal.
Bandit is exceptionally realistic and Chase is the typical street smart teen with a chip on her shoulder and an untrusting attitude to match.
More for the burgeoning YA market i feel but can easily be enjoyed by adults a there is a lot of depth to the interactions between the 3 main characters.
Narration from Heather Masters in one word is masterful ,with good range for the male characters and she suits the Chase character well. I expect to hear more from this narrator.
Only spoil i think is at some small points the story becomes a bit stretched as to how they evade capture especially towards the end.
I wouldnt discount this series due to this as its not far away from a 4.5 such is the authors skill in binging the attention of the listener.
This audio was gifted to me and i chose to leave an honest review and as such is my own opinion.

Really enjoyed listening to this

Wanted is about a girl living on the streets and a dog that finds her and the trouble that follows all because of the dog.
It’s a story about finding friendship, family and reconnecting..

Jo Ho wrote a really good book which I loved reading and I thought the Audible would be a good listen also, it did not disappoint.
Heather Masters did a really great job narrating this book, there was only a subtle difference between the voices but you could definitely tell who was who.
A definite must listen.

A wonderful book for all ages. Highly recommend!

Any additional comments?

I'm quite a bit older than the usual YA audience but I found this audiobook just delightful! Wonderful characters that you fall in love with and a story that had me at the edge of my seat. Chase, Sully and Bandit tore at my heart and I found myself desperately hoping that they would find the happy ending they so deserved. This was a very original story about a relationship I don't often see and I loved every second of it. The narration was superb too. I've never heard of this author before but I will be reading her other work for sure.

A great story, awesomely narrated!

This book really has it all - love, loss, hate, friendship, family, action, adventure, fight scenes, calm bits. It really keeps you hooked from beginning, through all the twists and turns, to the very end. And, if you listen to the audiobook like I did, you also get an awesome narrator, who really brings the story to life, even having recognisably different voices for every different characters! I absolutely loved this book, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes adventure stories, from young adults upwards.
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions
